I’ve been getting filler done for year but tried a new lady yesterday and my bottom lip is painful and I can feel pain in my chin although it’s fine to touch. I have a bruise on my bottom lip but I usually bruise anyway. Is this normal as I never usually have any issues after having them done.
Answer: Lip Augmentation with Injectable Fillers / Bruising and Swelling -- LightStim LED Therapy, Vascular Laser, IPL, Arnica, Dissolve Hi Terri, swelling, bruising and some discomfort are all common after lip filler injections. To diminish the bruising, I recommend using LightStim LED or, in more significant cases, a vascular laser or IPL treatment. Arnica with Bromelain ("Arnika Forte") can also be taken to help speed up the healing. If the bruising doesn't improve - or if the pain persists - follow up with your physician or see an experienced cosmetic dermatologist for an evaluation. If you're unhappy with your results, you can also have the filler dissolved with hyaluronidase and try a different filler and/or technique next time. Best, Dr. Emer

Answer: Pain in lower lip Thank you for your question. It is normal to experience pain after your treatment. However, if you still feel like your pain isn't subsiding, I suggest following up with your injector to discuss your concerns. All the best.

Answer: Lip pain Hey there - thanks for the question! Pain after injections can be normal as long as its only mild. Since you don't describe bad pain/tenderness to touch or skin changes, I suspect it's likely due to the bruise and should subside with time. Hope that helps.

Answer: Discomfort after dermal fillers You don't say how long ago the filler was placed or what type of filler was used. Without pictures it is difficult to say if this is normal healing/swelling. You should contact your provider to discuss your concerns. They can best advise you.

Answer: Pain after fillers Some tenderness and swelling should be expected from filler injections. However, anything more than that and you should contact your injector. Significant pain especially in the lips could possibly mean an artery is affected. If this occurs you must seek immediate attention. So, tenderness and slight bruising is fine. Pulsating pain and blanching of the skin around the injected area, is not ok. "This answer has been solicited without seeing this patient and cannot be held as true medical advice, but only opinion.
