Can botox to your forehead cause metallic taste facial numbness? If not why is others reporting these also?

Question

I had 24 units to my forehead today. Right side is now numb, heavy, slower movement. No rash or allergic symptoms. I also -when injecting -had a metallic taste in my throat and later back of sinuses. I reported the metallic taste immediately to doctor. The taste is still there. Went back to clinic 2 hrs later with the symptoms. Basically the doctor passed it off told me to go to ER, But I seemed fine. So I looked it up and others have done this. I am an ER RN..I do not panic.

I have never heard of a complaint similar to yours. I would simply give it 24 hours and see what happens. I'm sure you will be fine. Good luck from New York City

I have not read about any metallic tastes after botox. However I have a possible reason for the heaviness of the forehead and that would be what did the doctor dilute the botox with. I use saline but if they used lidocaine even in the small doses required that would lead to a decrease in motion and numbness which I would estimate last 2 hours-4 hours if lidocaine with epinepherine was in the mixture.
However if this time frame has passed and you are still numb especially in the lower face please get a neuro evaluation to ensure that you are not having a neurological problem and the botox just a circumstance that occurred around the same time.
