"​For glabellar lines (or frown lines / ""11"" lines), we inject Botox, Xeomin, or Dysport into the muscle, causing the muscle to weaken and improving the appearance of the lines. These work by binding to receptors that send nerve signals for muscles to contract. Since your body makes new receptors and neurotransmitters all the time, it needs to be maintained otherwise the wrinkles will slowly return as the muscle regains function over time. Neurotoxins take 2 to 4 weeks to start working and lasts for up to 6 months.

You are correct that Botox is a great treatment for the frown lines between the brows! Those lines are caused by your strong frown muscles in that area (not uncommon at the age of 25). Botox works by relaxing those muscles, preventing them from creasing the skin there. So, you are also right that the muscle movement will decrease in the areas that are injected, reducing or stopping your ability to frown between the brows. Botox can have side effects, but they are rare and temporary (Botox typically lasts 3-4 months). Definitely bring up any/all concerns with your provider prior to getting injected; your provider will be happy to address them. Best of luck!

You have a pair of muscles that create your "11's." Botox is routinely used to weaken those muscles so that you don't make the lines anymore. I would recommend consulting with a board certified physician that performs botox treatments to answer all of your questions/concerns.

Frown lines, such as the ones in the photo, are quite common. Many patients begin to develop frown lines in their twenties; more so if they are in the sun a lot (squinting) or if they make many facial expressions when they speak. Botox is a wonderful option to achieve the results you desire! It lasts anywhere between 4-5 months and relaxes the muscles and improves the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Side effects are not common.

Frown lines is one of the commonest areas to start developing lines. These lines form due to repeated movement of muscles in the area called the corrugator muscles. This can be very easily and effectively treated with Botox, Dysport or Xeomin. Treatment results in the muscles relaxing, preventing the skin from creasing and hence the overlying skin appears smoother. Treatment results last for 3-4 months so you will need treatment 3-4 times a year to maintain results. It is a very safe and effective treatment. Good luck.

Thanks for the photos. These lines are referred to as "frown lines" or # 11's, caused by contraction the Corrugator Muscles located under the skin between the eyebrows. Botox, rarely has temporary side effects such as headaches or ' black and blue ' marks at the injection sites. Botox works by relaxing those muscles, preventing them from creasing the overlying skin in the areas that are injected.
Alternative treatment includes other injectable such as Dysport or Xeomin . The results last 3-5 months. A more permanent solution is surgical excision of those muscles. 

Some people are simply born frowners. If you look at your photographs when you were much younger you'll probably see yourself frowning. The condition is genetic or you are just a very serious person, but it can't be helped with the use of botox or dysport. You should enjoy the results if these frown lines are bothering you. Frown lines, or the 11's, are due to a pair of muscles, called the corrugator, in this triangular area between the eyebrows. When these muscles contract, they pull the eyebrows in and slightly down, forming the frown lines. The most effective and safe treatment is neuromodulator injection, such as Botox, Dysport or Xeomin, into the corrugator muscle. The neuromodulator temporarily paralyzes the muscles it is injected into and requires re-injection every 3-4 months to maintain the effects. The neuromodulator does not affect surrounding muscles, unless there is seepage into the surrounding muscles. For example, seepage of Botox into the eyelid from above can cause temporary droopy eyelid (blepharoptosis) for 2-4 weeks. In clinical trials by Allergan, the pharmaceutical company that manufactures Botox, the incidence of blepharoptosis is 2-4%. In practice, I find the incidence to be far less than this rate. Neuromodulator is, therefore, the gold standard for treatment of the frown lines. 

Hi! Thank you for your question. This is a very common area to start forming wrinkles and frown lines. We use this muscle when we shield our eyes from the sun and when we make multiple expressions. If you are a person that wears their emotions on their face you will definitely see these lines form sooner and later.  Botox is a great way to stop the muscle from contracting and causing the lines to form.  It will last 3 to 4 months. After consistent treatment you will notice that no lines are forming at all. This along with sunglasses and a good skin regimen that includes sunscreen with SPF 30 with Zinc and Titanium, is the best way to keep that glowing youth in your face. Hi A91R and thanks for the question.  This is one of the most common areas treated in aesthetic medicine and present with a single, double and triple creases.  In your case a double crease(the 11s).  The group of muscles that cause these lines are referred to as the "Glabella Complex" although the Corrugator muscle is the biggest culprit.  Generally we try to smooth the crease out with by relaxing he muscle with use of a neuromodulator(Botox is the most common).  Should the fold(s) persist then dermal fillers are commonly used.  I always recommend a proper skin care regimen as well although the issue is overactive muscles and you cannot do anything prevent these lines(other than regular neuromodulator use) .
