Waiting close to a year after a tummy tuck before having a BBL is a very reasonable plan. Some patients may be cleared earlier, often around 6 months after an uncomplicated tummy tuck, but the safer timing depends on how well the incision, abdominal wall repair, swelling, and scar tissue have healed. A BBL after a tummy tuck can be more limited because the abdominal skin and tissues have already been tightened, and the abdomen may not be an ideal donor area for liposuction. Your surgeon would need to evaluate other donor sites such as the flanks, back, thighs, or hips. If there is not enough usable fat, the result may be modest or a BBL may not be worthwhile. In general, I would wait until you are fully healed, at a stable weight, and cleared by your tummy tuck surgeon. For many patients, 9 to 12 months is a good target, especially if muscle repair was done or healing was slow.
