What is the average cost for abdominoplasty with hysterectomy since I do have insurance and my Dr said everything will be billed by her except the abdominoplasty ? I'm left with frequent rashes and irritated skin under the flap of skin that is very uncomfortable . I'm fairly small, but even diet & exercise won't get rid of this ugly uncomfortable extra skin .

Combining hysterectomy and tummy tuck, can be a rewarding procedure.  If you have insurance, then the cost of the hysterectomy is often covered.   The tummy tuck can add 2 to 3 hours of procedure time, depending on the type of tummy tuck you require.  In addition, one of the best advantages of combining the procedure, is that you combine the recovery period.  Also, if you need a night or two in the hospital, the cost is often covered by insurance through the hysterectomy procedure.  On average, that tummy tuck can add $5-$7000 to the hysterectomy procedure.

Hysterectomy should be covered by your insurance company.  Tummy tuck is a cosmetic procedure to give you a good abdominal contour.  The cost of tummy tuck varies on surgeon's fee, facility fee, and anesthesia fee. All these fees are dependent on the hours of tummy tuck.  Usually hysterectomy takes about 1 hour; tummy tuck should take 2-3 hours.  The average of tummy tuck (surgeon's fee + OR/anesthesia fee) is usually $7000-$10000.  I think you should visit with board-certified plastic surgeon to get surgical estimates as well as to review all potential risks, complications, and benefits of the surgery.  Best wishes!

A hysterectomy is usually an insurance covered procedure where as a tummy tuck is a cosmetic procedure.   Whether both procedures should be done at the same time depends on your overall health status.   In addition, the operative times required to perform both procedure needs to be considered.   I work with an experienced OB/GYN who can perform a hysterectomy in 1 hour or less and a routine tummy tuck takes me 2 hours or less.   That said, it is important that your plastic surgeon discuss risks of bleeding from your hysterectomy procedure and possible increased risk for blood clots/DVT.  One option would be to treat you with Lovenox ( a blood thinner to prevent blood clots). Safety should be the primary concern. While these combined surgical procedures have been
performed together, most experienced plastic surgeons feel that this is a bad
combination of surgical procedures to undergo at the same time. There is an
increased risk of bleeding, infection, deep venous thrombosis (DVT)
and subsequent pulmonary embolism with this specific combination.

Surgical fees vary greatly across the country and even in the same area. Surgeons who own their own nationally accredited facility typically can offer lower fees than other surgeons. Many plastic surgeons do not do tummy tuck with hysterectomy so ensure that you are not compromising quality for either procedure.
