Im 4 weeks post-op. They took 200cc from my Flanks and 50cc from my abdominal. They swelling had gone down in my back and I like they way that's coming along. I just don't feel he took enough out of my stomach. I wasn't big coming in so I would think it would be much flatter. I do know I still have swelling, but I don't think it's going to come down much more. During the surgery he told me I have muscle and my skin would ripple if he took out anymore. Is 50cc a waste it time and money??

Liposuction volumes do vary depending on the area of the body and the amount of fat there is.  I would agree with your surgeon mentioning that too aggressive removal of fat could cause rippling or scar tissue between the skin and muscle.  It is important to leave behind some fat between the skin and muscle and do so as evenly as possible.  I would suggest you wait a few more months to assess the final result and visit with your plastic surgeon to assess whether more volume reduction is possible or needed.

50 mL is very conservative liposuction. However at four weeks there is still considerable swelling which you need to let subside before making any pronouncement about the final result.

The standard answer that you will likely get to your question is that you are only 4 weeks out, there is still swelling, and you need to give it time.  However, to be completely honest, the removal of only 50cc of fatty tissue is nearly nothing and probably really is a waste of time and money.  If there wasn't obviously much fatty tissue to remove on preoperative exam, then there should not have been a plan to try to remove it.  Regardless, best of luck with your recovery!

Hi 05mustang.50 cc's is not a lot of volume.  That is about two shot glasses worth of fat, so you can get an idea of how that would be distributed over your abdomen.Let me leave you with this.  In liposuction, it is not what you take out that counts, it is what you leave behind.  Who cares what volume is removed anyway, it is how you look.  It is way easier to remove more than to put it back. You are still only 4 weeks out so be patient.  Discuss concerns with doctor, and more can be taken later if needed.sek
