I know that general anesthesia is the most common for all of these procedures, especially when they are completed for my patients. You would need to first seek out a local certified surgeon and check out the details of their completion of the procedures. Best of luck to you.
I would not recommend doing a Tummy tuck or BBL under local. The amount of local required for those procedure might be close to levels of lidocaine toxicity and not be safe. However liposuction can be performed under local with careful calculation of medications used. Please discuss with your plastic surgeon.Good luck!!
General anesthesia is a safe and comfortable option for tummy tuck, and I would not even think of doing it under local. Given the amount of tissue that would have to be numbed with local, that would likely be the riskier approach.
The mommy makeover is one of the best surgeries for changing someone's body in a dramatic way. It is a lot of surgery but commonly done together. There is no way to comfortably do that surgery under local anaesthetic. You would have to stage your procedures and even then may not get the comfort you need so your surgeon can do everything they want to give you the best result. The odds of anaesthetic problems in young healthy people is very low. I would discuss your concerns with your surgeon.Dr Rodger ShorttOakville Plastic SurgeonAssistant Clinical Professor &Director of Cosmetic Surgery Training Program,McMaster UniversityOakville, Burlington, Georgetown, Milton, Mississauga, Hamilton, and Toronto.
Thank you for your question and photograph. With this extent of surgery I would only recommend general anesthesia. This would offer you the best pain control and safety during the listed procedure. Hope this helps.
The number one priority in surgery should always be safety. When considering a Mommy Makeover the safest choice is general anesthesia. This allows the surgeon to focus on getting you maximum results while your anesthesiologist focuses on your comfort and all of your vital signs to ensure safety. Local anesthesia is fine for small procedures but larger areas may require more anesthetic medicine to keep you comfortable than is safe to administer.
Thank you for your question.I perform tummy tuck surgery in an out patient surgery center, and under general anesthesia only. I work with Board Certified Anesthesiologist who monitor my patients from start to end so as to provide the safest environment for my patients. Abdominoplasty is an extensive procedure and I would recommend general anesthesia so that you are as comfortable/safe/immobile as possible during the procedure.I hope this, and the attacked link, helps.
The operations your are describing cannot be done under local anesthesia. General anesthesia is safe and you will be much more comfortable.
A Mommy Makeover in my opinion should always be performed under General Anaesthetic and is unsafe under local anaesthetic. All patients should be monitored overnight in a suitable facility.
Hello thank you for the question in the photo. Many patients ask about General vs. Local anesthesia. I find that many patients are afraid of having general anesthesia that they won't wake up after surgery or that they will wake up during surgery. I think you need to put this into perspective given how many operations are performed in this country under general anesthesia each day vs. How many complications there are. Although such complications do occur and you read about them on the Internet they are extremely rare.Current statistics estimate the death rate to be 1.1 per million procedures in the United States this includes all patients having general anesthesia not just for plastic surgery. The vast majority of these deaths occurred in the very sick and the very old. If you eliminate that category from the statistics the death rate becomes much much less. You are more likely to die in a car accident driving to Costco than undergoing elective cosmetic surgery under anesthesia. Having said all that, these procedures are too much to have under local anesthesia. There is a maximum limit to the dose of local anesthesia you can have. As always it is best to have several consultations with board-certified plastic surgeons in your area before proceeding. Surgery should be performed in a fully licensed outpatient surgery center or hospital setting. It is best to be healthy, no smoking, and if you have any health concerns or problems they should be under the current management of your primary care physician. It is best to be healthy, no smoking, and if you have any health concerns or problems they should be under the current management of your primary care physician.Best to you
While you are correct in knowing that necrosis can be a problem after surgery, although it does not happen often. Your best bet is to seek out local certified surgeons for consultation and also confirm their availability post-op for any concerns that you may have.
It is best for you to contact your surgeon and schedule an evaluation. An examination of the area needs to be done to determine the next steps. The antibiotics alone may not be adequate to fight the infection. Your surgeon is the best one to guide you as he/she is most familiar with the...
Hemoglobin A1c is a lab test that is an indicator of blood sugar levels and is important for those with diabetes. It is not the same lab test done to check if your blood counts are in a safe range to undergo surgery. Your surgeon will advise you of any pre-operative lab tests that are needed f...
