How long after breast augmentation should I wait to get pregnant?

It is best to allow the healing process to take place which can take up to 6-8 weeks. However, I would recommend waiting about 3 months after surgery. Having said that, pregnancy changes breasts. For those who are thinking of having children in the near future, they may want to think about waiting until after having a baby. Volume is gained and then lost in the pregnancy process, and there is always a possibility of needing a breast revision or breast lift after the pregnancy is over. Overall, if you have had a breast augmentation already, it is recommended you be fully healed before getting pregnant.

Honestly, We tell most of our patients to wait until after having children before having breast enhancement surgery because the breast change so much during and after childbirth.  If someone has already had your procedure though, I would suggest waiting 3 months before getting pregnant.  All things considered, if you feel like you can wait, I would suggest waiting until after you finish breast feeding and your breast have had a chance to settle at their new position and volume which will likely be different than before being pregnant. Since you are trying to get pregnant in the next several months, I would advise waiting until after you are done nursing.  Many patients lose breast volume and expand their skin envelope after pregnancy.   Thus, you may choose a different implant size after the pregnancy than you might choose before. It makes more sense to do surgery once than to potentially need to revise your surgery after the pregnancy.    Best of luck with both!

Breast Augmentation will increase the volume of your breasts.  It won't lift your breasts.  There is no need to delay breast augmentation if you plan on having children at a later date.  Your implants will stay relatively unchanged and you will maintain the volume of the implants.  If you need a lift, you may want to wait until after you are finished having children and breast feeding as your tissue may change significantly following children.  But there is no need to wait if you simply want larger breasts.  Be sure to see a board certified plastic surgeon for an in person examination to discuss your individual situation.  Good luck!

Great question. I would advise you to wait until after your pregnancy to think about getting a breast augmentation. There are many changes that can go on during pregnancy and possible breast feeding that can change the shape and volume of your breast. depending on how your breasts change during pregnancy could change how you wish to proceed with the augmentation. It really makes no sense to be planning a pregnancy this year and getting an augment first. You may wind up paying full price all over again to redo the surgery. Hold off on the surgery until you are done having your family.
