I'm morbidly obese and have a 60" waist. Could liposuction remove the 80 pounds of fat in my stomach?
Answer: Liposuction for Morbidly Obese? Liposuction Is Not for Weight Loss It is not possible to remove 80 pounds of fat during a liposuction procedure. If you want to improve your BMI with surgery, then I’d suggest a gastric bypass. You will need to find a specialist to help you with that, plus be committed to a healthy lifestyle afterwards. Once you are at a BMI of 30 or under, you can consider liposuction to sculpt your ideal figure.

Answer: Liposuction not for weight loss Unfortunately, liposuction is not for weight loss. Rather, it removes problem areas of fat which are diet and exercise resistant.80 lbs is impossible to remove via liposuction. This is more a Bariatric Surgeon type of evaluation for gastric bypass, banding, etc.

Answer: Liposuction and Weight Loss I have performed thousands of these procedures. Many of these procedures have been performed on obese patients. Even though you do lose weight after liposuction, it is really not considered a weight loss procedure. Typically, with safe lipo approaches, it's about 7 pounds removed with each session.

Answer: Large quantities of fat As my colleagues have mentioned, lipo is about contouring, not weight loss. Furthermore, fat removal by lipo has not been shown to produce the same health benefits of weight loss. Whatever you were considering investing in lipo may be more wisely redirected for consideration of a bariatric procedure or even a personal trainer and dietician. Develop a team to help you reach your goals. Best of luck!

Answer: Weight loss and weight loss surgery Hi Daisy,Thanks for your question, the long and short is that liposuction is not your answer to weight loss. I always educate my patients that this is not a weight loss procedure but more of a contouring of the body. Having said that 5L is the maximum amount of volume that could be removed safely in an outpatient setting, with your current weight, the results would be negligible and not a good use of your money. This is not to say you will not be a candidate for liposuction in the future but right now you are not a good candidate. I would start by losing some weight!Good luck!
