It is not possible to remove 80 pounds of fat during a liposuction procedure. If you want to improve your BMI with surgery, then I’d suggest a gastric bypass. You will need to find a specialist to help you with that, plus be committed to a healthy lifestyle afterwards. Once you are at a BMI of 30 or under, you can consider liposuction to sculpt your ideal figure.
Unfortunately, liposuction is not for weight loss. Rather, it removes problem areas of fat which are diet and exercise resistant.80 lbs is impossible to remove via liposuction. This is more a Bariatric Surgeon type of evaluation for gastric bypass, banding, etc.
I have performed thousands of these procedures. Many of these procedures have been performed on obese patients. Even though you do lose weight after liposuction, it is really not considered a weight loss procedure. Typically, with safe lipo approaches, it's about 7 pounds removed with each session.
As my colleagues have mentioned, lipo is about contouring, not weight loss. Furthermore, fat removal by lipo has not been shown to produce the same health benefits of weight loss. Whatever you were considering investing in lipo may be more wisely redirected for consideration of a bariatric procedure or even a personal trainer and dietician. Develop a team to help you reach your goals. Best of luck!
Hi Daisy,Thanks for your question, the long and short is that liposuction is not your answer to weight loss. I always educate my patients that this is not a weight loss procedure but more of a contouring of the body. Having said that 5L is the maximum amount of volume that could be removed safely in an outpatient setting, with your current weight, the results would be negligible and not a good use of your money. This is not to say you will not be a candidate for liposuction in the future but right now you are not a good candidate. I would start by losing some weight!Good luck!
Thank you for your question. It is not possible to remove 80pounds of fat. But there are options for you. We use the HCG diet in our practice and many have lost 80 lbs or more. Gastric bypass surgery may be an option also. Liposuction is not a weight loss procedure, but a way to help someone who is already in good shape with diet and exercise who wants to improve their appearance. One must have weight stable for a significant amount of time before having liposuction. Fat cells are not benign; they secrete inflammatory cytokines so it’s very important to lose the weight. Please see your primary care doctor or counselor to help you obtain weight loss results.
the quick answer is no. you may qualify for lap band or other surgical weight loss procedure. after weight loss sometimes lipectomy can help
While an excellent procedure for body contouring, liposuction is not a true weight loss procedure. As mentioned by others, a bariatric weight loss procedure such as a band, bypass, or gastric sleeve will give you significant weight loss in a relatively short period of time (1-2 years). These procedures are best followed up by a procedure to remove the excess skin that you will likely have after the weight loss. Typically it is best to be stable at, or close to, your desired weight for 6-12 months. You should be aware that insurance companies will commonly cover a portion of the skin removal from your abdomen, but not the entire procedure. Insurance companies tend not to cover any additional surgery you may need (arms, thighs, neck, upper abdomen, breasts). Massive weight loss is a serious undertaking and the health benefits are amazing, however, be aware of all that comes with it. Best of luck in your pursuits!
Thank you for your question. Unfortunately, liposuction is not the answer for weigh loss, especially in the face of morbid obesity. You would be better off putting your money towards a bariatric procedure. In many states, the maximum fat that can be removed is 4 liters or about 8 pounds. Further, if you reduce the amount of subcutaneous fat, the visceral fat that surrounds your organs will likely increase. This is the fat that causes diabetes, high blood pressure, heart disease, stroke, and even death.I wish you the best - Dr. Moore.
you should try very hard to work on a strict diet and exercise with dieting being more important even than exercise (though both are best). i personally think the Paleo Meal Replacement diet is a great way to lose weight, there are certainly other healthy diets out there.once you lose that weight, you may need a TT or if you are lucky and have good skin tone, you may be able to do Smartlipo alone. if you can't push yourself enough to diet, you can look into Bariatric surgery, but it is always preferable if you can do this yourself naturally.good luckdavid berman md
