Flabby, jiggly belly 5 weeks post laser lipo and skin excision (Photo)

Swelling after liposuction can create irregularities and lumps and bumps.   You are early in the healing process.  Much of the area seems to related to stretch marks.  Give the area time to heal and tighten  fully which can take 6-12 months.  Also, treatments such as Fraxel or ResurFx can be used to improve the stretch marks which will likely improve the skin quality around the belly button.  Be patient.  Speak to your physician about your concerns.  Best of luck.

you are early in the healing phase, however, the discussion with your surgeon about the possibility of laxity in your skin should have been part of your preop discussion.  From your initial photo I can see stretch marks which correlate to the dermis of the skin being stretched out after 4 children! The ability of that skin to recoil and shrink is not always 100% predictable with smart lipo alone.  This is a discussion I always have with patients who have stretch marks.  Having said that you are very early in the healing stage and can take 4-6 months to see the final results. Adding post procedure skin tightening RF devices will help as well.Be patient with the process, hope this helps!

It's too soon to tell what your final results will be. You have swelling, which can last 3-6 months after your procedure. Lymphatic massage and venus legacy treatments can give improvement. Keep in mind, Smart Lipo needs a combination approach to get the best results. I recommend adding thermage, ultherapy, exilis. VASER liposuction in combination with ThermiRF is a great alternative for a toned abdomen and can be combined with a tummy tuck, but would require more downtime. See an expert. it is much too early to tell what your final result will be..it may take 6 months.. You can not pull out all the wrinkles..as no matter how much you excise, the skin will relax and some will return.. 
I have done skin tyte by sciton on some patients with this and it will improve the appearance

Thank you for the photos. I am a little confused since you mention that you had excess skin removed but did not have a tummy tuck. LaserLipo is a great choice for someone who needs some fat removed but also has mild to moderate skin laxity but does not have excess skin that needs to be cut off. I tell my patients that the #1 side effect is swelling with 70% of swelling expected to decrease 1 month after the treatment, 90% decreased by 3 months after and 100% resolved at 6 months. Collagen building starts shortly after the laser heat is placed but it usually takes a few months before you start seeing noticeable skin tightening and this effect will continue for 6-9 months following your LaserLipo. At 5 weeks, I would expect that some of the jiggling is due to normal swelling for this time following the treatment and your skin has just not had enough time to make sufficient collagen for you to see tightening. It is important to do periodic follow-up photos with your physician (we do them at 1 month, 3 months, and 6 months post LaserLipo for example) so you can both assess your progress. you will continue to improve for 6 months after Smartlipo. you will get more improvement from months 2-6, rather than in the first 2 months (this is always a surprise to patients). you need to be patient. As to why this was selected rather than a TT, i would have to see your before pictures from the front and side and would probably needed to see you in person before that decision was made. However, i would strongly recommend that you be patient and see how much improvement you get until you are 6 months post op. you can also help the results by exercising and dieting to reduce your total body fat.david berman md
