How to fix a crooked nose tip?

just the tip of my nose is slightly crooked. I have already had a septoplasty, so my septum should be straight. in what ways can the tip be straightened?

No nose can be made perfectly straight and how the crooked tip can be fixed depends on making the diagnosis of what is causing it - photos are needed to assess further

If the tip is crooked it means that the cartilage under the skin, which gives the tip its shape, is out of line or asymmetric. To straighten the tip, or modify its shape, requires reshaping the cartilage and allowing the skin to settle down around the newly positioned cartilage. In some cases the end of the septum may be off center, which will pull the tip to one side.In either case aligning the supporting cartilage is the answer. This does require a surgical procedure to get a permanent fix to the problem. I hope this answers your question.

A rhinoplasty procedure can accomplish straightening the crooked nose. Osteotomies of the nasal bones are required to straighten the upper third of the nose. The mid third of the nose is straightened with spreader grafts harvested from cartilage on the inside of the nose. It is important to know whether or not there's any cartilage left on the inside of the nose for grafting purposes after a previous septoplasty.  When the tip of the nose is crooked, a tip rhinoplasty is performed which is accomplished with a combination of suture techniques,  conservative cartilage removal, and cartilage grafting techniques. The tip can be crooked as a result of multiple reasons.  Simply because you had a septoplasty does not mean the entire septum was straightened.  The part of the septum that can cause breathing obstruction is further back and not related to the tip cartilages.  This part of the septum may have been straightened and your breathing issues may have been corrected but the tip would not have been affected.  It is best to be seen and examined by a surgeon who specializes in rhinoplasty to help address your concerns.

The tip usually is corrected with combination of cartilage removal and/or addition and suture techniques.  Usually this is best done at the time of a septoplasty since that is where needed cartilage is harvested.  If not available, ear cartilage may be needed.  Every case is different and you may not need cartilage harvest.  Find a board certified surgeon who does frequent rhinoplasty for the best outcome.  Good luck.  Donald R.
