Russian threads. Are they safe?

I would like to get Russian threads on the tip of my nose , is this safe ? I had a nose job awhile back but the tip of my nose still look bad can the Russian threads help ????

Dear Mia82,Up until a few weeks ago I had no idea what "Russian Threads" meant, but a facelift patient told me at her pre-op appointment that she had gold threads placed in Moscow as an anti-aging procedure in the past. Her physician assured her it would not interfere with any future surgery, but I completely disagree. Please do not consider placing anything permanent in your nose. I feel much more comfortable suggesting that your explore the option of a hyaluronic acid gel filler like Perlane or Voluma. This is considered off label use (not FDA approved) and while any procedure can certainly result in complications, this gel can be dissolved rapidly if there is a poor cosmetic result or infection.I would pick your injector carefully, and see either a board certified plastic or facial plastic surgeon who is very experienced with rhinoplasties and performing these kinds of injections.Best of luck,

Although the concept sounds good, I would dissuade your from doing a procedure that is not the mainstay of correcting poor nasal tip positioning. No need to experiment with your nose. Please make a consultation or provide photos to get nasal surgery recommendation.

Hi, I have performed and taught Rhinoplasty for 30 years.  Placong gold threads (Russian threads) or any type of tissue suspension or fixation, under the nasal skin, would not accomplish your goal of rotating the nasal tip upward.  There are Rhinoplasty procedures that will rotate the tip.  The threads will eventually erode through the nasal skin.
