Hi @annabel13! This is an excellent question. A combination treatment is always the best approach. Sculptra and microneedling work very well together. Sculptra is an injectable that stimulates the production of collagen and helps smoothen lines and crepey skin. I also recommend 3-6 sessions of microneedling. Best of luck, Dr. Nima!
A combination of treatments is best for lines and wrinkles of the decolletage area. I usually recommend a combination of Ultherapy, ThermiTight/ThermiSmooth, Microneedling, chemical peels and at home skin care. Find an experienced physician in your area who offers combination therapy.
Like many things in plastic surgery, combination therapies are often most effective in rejuvenating the skin of the chest wall. Sculptra is an injectable that gradually stimulates the production of new collagen and in the process smoothes the lines and crepey skin that can develop along the décolletage. When combined with lasers or microneedling the effects can be additive in improving texture, tone and discoloration. It typically takes 2-3 sessions spaced 6 weeks apart and downtime is minimal. Evaluation by a board certified plastic surgeon or dermatologist can determine if you are an appropriate candidate.
Dear Annabel, Sculptra Aesthetic has been used for fine lines and wrinkles in the Decolletage. Sculptra is poly- l-lactic acid which works by stimulating collagen in the body and lasts up to 2 years. It is like creating a thin layer or veneer of collagen under the wrinkled area. It can take more than one Sculptra treatment to optimally correct the fine lines and wrinkles, depending on the condition of the skin. The skin in this area is quite thick. Sometimes combining Sculptra with a skin tightening device like Utherapy is beneficial. I recommend that you have a consultation with a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon, that is highly experienced with treating the décolletage, who can examine you and determine if you are a good candidate. Best wishes, Dr. Richard Swift
The best treatment for the décolletage are lasers like Fraxel and chemical peels. Botox and injectables do not work well in that area.
Fillers are not commonly used on the décolletage. Often IPL and other modalities of laser treatments can help with this area.
None of the fillers is FDA approved for décolleté application and usually fillers are not the first choice in treating wrinkles in this area. Skin tightening procedures such as Ultherapy or Thermismooth would be my first option, followed by either chemical or laser peel if necessary.
Injectables such as fillers and botox are not a reasonable option for rejuvenation of this region. The best and option is light based treatment for depigmentation or resurfacing. Sone chemical peels are also effective but to a lesser extent.
Thanks for your question. Depending upon the nature of the wrinkles and any accompanying sun damage of the area, there are different treatments available to you. Filler can definitely be used but so could resurfacing lasers. See a qualified and experienced physician injector to discuss your options. Best of luck to you.
