Like really asymmetrical. As you can see on the illustration, which is just a quick drawing, one smile lines is nice, "turning" outwards, but the other is like a half circle. I hate it, and I want to have a more symmetrical face. It makes me very insecure and I mostly smile with my lips only, and not with my teeth, which I feel is more like a fake smile. How can I fix this? Are there any ways to fix this, other than surgery?
Answer
Hi Smile. Your best bet will likely be dermal filler products like Restylane, Lyft, Radiesse or Scultpra. While the drawing is nice, it's easier to make a recommendation while the patient is sitting in front of us. I suggest a formal consultation with a phsyician who does a significant amount of facial contour, as botox can be used to even out the smile and fillers to help the folds. Best, Dr. Emer.

Hello and thanks for your question. An in-person consultation is the best way to figure out why you have such a drastic asymmetry to your smile lines. If suitable, Dermal Fillers can be used to make the asymmetry less noticeable. It is important to have realistic expectations though. Although fillers will help improve the appearance, perfect symmetry will probably not be attainable. Make sure you find an experienced injector for this. Best wishes.

Asymmetical smile lines are common, in fact most people do not smile the same on both sides. A combination of fillers and possible Botox can help if used by a skilled injector.

Smileandshine1, thank you for your question and the drawing. A photo would be more helpful to determine if you are a candidate for an injectable filler. Fillers can be used to create a more symetrical face and smile. We offer a complimentary cosmetic consultation to determine your specific needs.
Answer
Thanks for your question. You definitely need an in person evaluation to determine if your smile lines are like this due to age or perhaps another problem (like facial nerve palsy). Depending upon the nature of the problem, you might be a candidate for an injectable filler. I recommend you make an appointment with a well trained and experienced plastic surgeon or dermatologist who can begin the evaluation process. Best of luck to you!
Answer
First, you need to be evaluated as to why your nasolabial folds are asymmetric. Problems with your facial nerve can cause this. Second, fillers won't correct the asymmetry but will make the nasolabial folds less noticeable, and this may be enough. Third, to correct the asymmetry, you would probably need surgery. It is possible that Botox might help but would cause an unacceptable asymmetry of your smile. Best wishes
