Long term taping is not typically recommended after rhinoplasty. Nonetheless, tip support in the late postop period may provide slight improvement. First discuss with your surgeon.
It is normal to get some tip droop after removal of the cast. As swelling goes away and the skin starts to tighten on the tip, you should get some upward lift (called Rotation). Taping your nasal tip 1 month post op may not really help. But most of the tip rotation is achieved during surgery via specific surgical steps.
I do not believe that taping the tip a month after surgery is really very helpful in providing additional nasal tip elevation. Most of the nasal tip elevation or shortening of the nose is due to surgical meanuvers performed durning the rhinoplasty . I do believe that the taping of the tip in the immediate week after surgery is very important but not beyond that.
Dear b7rkj1, I am not a proponent of taping the nose after splint removal. The nose is shaped during the surgical procedure with specific methods in the surgery and is not inclined to change with tape in my opinion. Best regards, Michael V. Elam, M.D.
