A lateral canthopexy is NOT enough to give a lasting result. A retraction repair is imperative to give the lower eyelid support. This involves placing a small graft on the inside of the eyelid. There will be no visible scars. Please seek an experienced Oculofacial Plastic (Oculoplastics) Surgeon. A general plastic surgeon will probably not have the expertise to address this problem, though an experienced one may. Good luck.AJ Amadi, MD
You have lower eyelid retraction retraction with negative canthal tilt. It is important to understand that lateral canthoplasty alone will NOT achieve the result you want but rather the lower eyelids also need to be raised in order to create long lasting natural looking almond eyes.
Hi!While there are no non-surgical options, you have a surgical option to lift the outer corners of your eyes. The procedure is called "canthopexy" and it refers to an outpatient procedure where the corners of the eye shape is lifted and anchored to the strong tissue over the eyesocket bone. My technique is to place a well hidden small incision in the natural eyelid fold and then a permanent very fine suture for a permanent result. The procedure involves very little pain and just a few days of recovery time. Minor bruising can be covered with makeup and you're back to your normal activities quickly. Good luck!
Hello. Thank you for your question, and photo. Based on your photo alone, you may benefit from two ocular surgeries — canthopexy and canthoplasty. The first surgery will lift the corner of the eye. The second surgery will help tighten the lower eyelid. Only an in-person consultation with a board-certified plastic surgeon can confirm if these surgeries — or a combination of these surgeries with another procedure — will give you the results you want. You will want to select a board-certified plastic surgeon who has significant experience with this type of surgery and who can show you before and after photos of patients who have had this type of procedure, as well. I wish you good health and good luck.- Daniel Lensink, MD
Thank you for your photo. It appears that you have some scleral show (the white area showing below your eye) which can indicate that you have overly loose lower eyelids. This can cause your eyes to look tired or downturned. A solution to laxity of the lower eyelids is a canthopexy or canthoplasty which is an eye lift to tighten the corner of the eyelid and bring the angle upwards. You can simulate this by using a finger to gently push up and out on the corner of the lower eyelid. A small amount of lift can make a world of difference. Hope this helps!Johnson C.
