Bad candidate for Lip Lift, what are my other options?

I recently went to a consultation for a lip lift as my lips are incredibly thin and the distance between my nose and top is a staggering 2.1mm. Unfortunately, the doctor did not recommend the surgery as my teeth do in fact show when my mouth is open and therefore I would be incredibly ‘teethy’ whilst talking and laughing post op. I’m still incredibly sad that I will not have the luscious lips I have craved my whole life. Is there any other procedures that could help me?

I would not be so quick to dismiss a lip lift as part of your overall lip augmentation plan after a single consultation. It could be a conservative lip lift and/or a filler would help give you the more luscious lips you after.Consult with board certified plastic surgeons to review your goals and your options.Best wishes!

You would get a nice improvement with lip fillers. These fillers, (Volbella, Restylane, Juvederm) are good to create a symmetrical lip. Nova threads can be used to improve lift and shape. Implants or fat are alternatives. Technique will be important here, so you'll want to see someone meticulous. I recommend getting a formal evaluation with a facial sculpting expert. Best, Dr. Emer

No question. A lip lift should work wonderfully for you.  The only reason you'd be too "teethy" afterwards is if too much skin was removed which is not likely at all with an experienced physician.  Lip lift is one of the most common procedures I do, and we get great results. Hi,I would not exclude the option of having a lip lift. 4 mm of tooth show at rest is normal. Shortening the distance between the base of the nose and the lip will also add balance to the lower face. You may still require some lip filler but I think a lip lift is still a nice option. Best,

I would consider lip filler treatment using a hyaluronic acid based filler like Restylane or Juvederm. I would start with 1 (1 mL) syringe during the first treatment session and then add more filler at followup appointments to build up the lip volume until you get the desired result.
