Pimples and redness 1 month after FUE. Is this normal? (Photo)

Question

Hi, I've started to develop some nasty looking pimples that are sore to the touch about a month after my FUE. Is this normal? I'm worried it's folliculitis. I have contacted my doctor and am awaiting a response. Thank you.

Pimples and folliculitis can happen after hair transplantation. I would recommend using warm compresses and visiting the surgeon that did the procedure.

Hello, Thank you for your question and uploading photos. You look absolutely normal for 1 month post-op. Pimples may happen due to ingrown hair. But of course there is solution for that. I would advice you to contact your surgeon and he will prescribe you some products which will help you with redness and pimples.

These small or different sized pimples may be observed 1-2 months after HT op . Reason for that is kinky new growing hair causes small enfected foci of underneath skin. I suggest you to hot water compress on to pimples  by using a small hot wet towel for 2-3 minutes and 2 times  a day for 1 week.İt surprisingly decrease the inflammation and infection. If pimples sustained more than 3 days without any healing sign (decrease redness and size) it is better to start to use an antibiotics (such as amoxycillin+clavulonic acid OR ciprofloxacine).

This can be seen around this time.  Folliculitis just means inflammation of the hair follicle- it can be sterile(no infectious cause) which is most likely the case here as well as infectious.  Should be a temporary thing but see your doctor because no there are treatments that can help to minimize the inflammation.

It is common for hairs to become ingrown at the 1 month mark. It may lead to Folliculitis. Your best option is to have a follow up with the doctor that performed the procedure to have an assessment and to see what they recommend.

Most of the time, pimples that form in low numbers is the result of retained hair spicules and is best treated with warm wet soaks, but see your surgeon and make sure it is not folliculitis
