Juvederm ultra vs ultra plus for the lips - which is best? I want it to last longer and be a little bigger.

The big difference between Juvederm Ultra and Juvederm Ultra Plus is the particle size.  Juvederm Ultra Plus has a slightly larger particle size than Juvederm Ultra.  For your concerns about a bigger lip augmentation, Juvederm Ultra Plus may have a slight advantage.  Both products work well for augmenting the lips.  Speak with an experienced injector to evaluate which product is best for your desired look--there are several other fillers from the Juvederm family or Restylane Family that may work for you.Best Wishes,Dr. Aldo Guerra

Thank you for your question. If you are looking for a product that will last a little longer, I personally feel that Ultra Plus would be the better option. Really, the best advice I can give is to have an in-office consultation with a qualified injector. Explain your goals to them and they can best advise you on which product is best for you. 

Juvederm ultra and ultra plus have been used by many for the lips.  Ultra plus does have a larger bore needle.  Currently, I prefer Juvederm Volbella for the lips.  The augmentation is much better in that the "duck" appearance to the lips has been lessened in those with small lips.  The longevity has been excellent as well.

Hi, generally Ultra Plus feels "lumpier" than Ultra. However it can be longer lasting than Ultra. If you have had Ultra before, and you are one who breaks down the product quickly, then consider Ultra Plus. 
There is a newer product which has properties combining Ultra and Ultra Plus. It is a soft product and long lasting also. This is the product that I usually recommend to start with.

I most commonly use Restylane or Restylane Silk when treating the lips. If I choose to use the Juvederm Family of Fillers, I prefer Juvederm Ultra over Juvederm UltraPlus. The latter is thicker and produces a more stiff and unnatural look. Most of these lip fillers last 6-9 months on average and then need to be repeated. 

Juvederm Ultra Plus is a thicker product than the Ultra so it may produce a stiffer feel and less natural look, but certainly can be used in skilled hands.  The longevity of both products is similar.  Juvederm makes another product called Volbella which is designed for the lips.  I recommend speaking with your injector about what is right for you.

Both products, Juvederm and Juvederm Ultra should give you an excellent result and last about the same in the lips. Good luck from New York City
