Hello! I refuse to believe the puffiness and blue/purple under my eyes after tear trough filler is still swelling after nearly 7 weeks. It’s worse in the AM. I’ve had this done MANY times in the past (photos attached). It never looked as it does now. Per my before photos and past post filler photos, this filler made me look worse—a lot worse. I’m depressed over it. What happened? How can I fix it? Can I go to a different doctor for Hylenex? I don’t trust the original injector. TIA!

Answer: It is honestly hard to see what is going on in these photos. The bottom line is that under eye fillers is a very fussy service. It requires detailed knowledge of the anatomy and a true sense of artistry to get the service right. That it turns out is a rare combination. I know because I truly see patients from all over the world who seek me out to fix their under eye filler services. You would not fly to Los Angeles from London or Dubai if you could possibly find help locally. What do you need? First you need a doctor who actually listens to your concerns, can assess you and make a plan about your best options. Usually removal fo the product is best. Occasionally more product is recommended. The ability to remove the hyaluronic acid fillers makes them very powerful. The cannula is seldom the solution to these issues. You need a sculptor.

Answer: Unhappy with Tear Trough Injections (Volbella, Restylane, Belotero)--reverse with hyaluronidase If you're unhappy with your final results, you can have it reversed with hyaluronidase and try a different technique next time. I recommend injections with cannulas to limit complications. See an expert. Best, Dr. Emer
