My lips are uneven after having Restylane, is this normal? (Photos)

Hello and thank you for your question. From the pictures, it looks like normal post injection swelling. Swelling is a common minor adverse event that can occur after the injection of dermal fillers (or anytime a needle is placed into the skin) and it can be asymmetrical. Fortunately, this is temporary and there are ways to help minimize the effects. It is still early after injection, so a few days of icing and intermittent massage may solve the problem.
It can take up to 2 weeks for the adverse events to resolve and for your fillers to be settled into your lip tissue. If by then you are unhappy with your results or it is still uneven, you should consult with your injector to try and even them out.

I ask my patients to wait at least 2 weeks before making any conclusions about the appearance of the area being treated. The reason for this is because there will be swelling and it takes at least 2 weeks for the swelling to resolve. Once the swelling is resolved we are able to determine if the area is symmetrical or not.

Thank you for sharing your question and posting your photographs. Swelling (even asymmetric swelling) is normal for the week following injection of fillers into the lips. Wait 2 weeks before judging results and then see your doctor if you are not satisfied. Good luck,

Thanks for your question! It is common to have asymmetric swelling right after injections. I would contact your provider so they area aware but wouldn't panic. Give the swelling a few more days or even week to calm down and then you will have a better idea of the final result. I typically have my injectable patients follow up or call me in 2-3 weeks if they have any issues. Best of luck! 

Swelling can be typical, which can be asymmetrical. Icing and cold compresses may give improvement. I would wait a full 2 weeks before judging the results. If it is after the two week wait, you can have the filler reversed with hyaluronidase.

Hello and thank you for your question! Not to worry, it is normal to experience swelling and some minor asymmetry post injection. This is only temporary, and swelling will subside. I advise my patients to take Arnica post procedure to help with these side effects. Final results will set in 2 weeks post procedure. Hello. Thank you for your question. It is normal to have swelling for up to 2 weeks after lip filler. I have found the first 2-3 days are always the worst. I would not worry about them not being proportional at this point. As the swelling goes down they should even out. I would recommend giving them a full 2 weeks to settle in completely. If you are still unhappy at 2 weeks, call your injector to discuss your options. You can always dissolve the filler with a product called hylauronidase if needed.

We like our patients to give it at least 1 week, sometimes 2 weeks to let the swelling go down to be able to see if it is uneven or not. You can always add more, but its harder to take it out.

4 days after injection with filler into the lips is not enough time to see what the final result will be so give it at least another week to see what the results are
