I would really like a tummy tuck. I have had 3 babies and boy did my belly stretch with them all! 26 years ago I had my spleen removed and it has left me with a vertical scar on my stomach. I am wondering if a tummy tuck would still be within reach for me? What would happen to the scar? Would they be able to cut through it? I know when they pull the skin down and rebuild the belly button, it might affect that? I am so worried that I won't be able to get one now. Please give me hope!

A vertical midline scar does not preclude you from having a tummy tuck. With massive weight loss, we will often make a vertical scar to improve the contour in two dimensions. Good luck!

It is possible to have a tummy tuck with an upper abdominal midline wound. I think the more important question is if you have enough laxity of your upper abdominal skin and soft tissue to be able to closeThe tummy tuck incision. I would discuss this matter in detail with your surgeon.It is imperative
that you seek the advice of a plastic surgeon who is certified by the American
Board of Plastic Surgery and has extensive experience in tummy tuck / abdominoplasty.

You would get a very nice result from a Tummy Tuck. Consult with a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon who can show you lots of pictures of patients similar to yourself. The scar removal/revision can be done at the same time. An in person exam will help to determine the laxity of the abdominal skin and how much it will move down during Tummy Tuck. Best Wishes

Yes, a tummy tuck can still be done and the scar can be improved at the same time. However, the old scar will appear longer.

Having your spleen removal scar should not affect having a tummy tuck one bit. The scar will more than likely be released and of course pulled down. Consult with a board certified plastic surgeon. He/she should be able to do a scar revision at the same time as well to redo your existing one. Good Luck. From just viewing your pictures, you should have a fantastic result.
