5’3, 115llbs, should I gain weight for a BBL? (Photos)

Question

I have had a couple of consultations for a bbl. Some surgeons say I should gain 20 pounds or so and some say I have enough fat. Should I gain more weight to get the look I want ?

Hi, thank you for sharing your question. It would be beneficial for you to gain some weight for the procedure. The amount of weight gain required will depend on how much volume and projection you want in your buttocks. I hope this helps.

Thanks for your question. From your pictures, I would recommend gaining weight for a BBL. The BBL includes 360 lipo, which is lipo of the upper and lower abdomen, the upper and lower back and the flanks. So, you would need enough fat in these are for transfer to the buttocks. I recommend you schedule a consult for a proper evaluation. Make sure your surgeon you choose has extensive experience with Skinny BBLs and clean credentials. In this regard, I recommend you waist and back Liposculpture, getting better curves especially in the waist, improving your body contour.

Finally, I suggested take the fat we get and transfer to the buttocks and hips, to mold them and get better volume, contour and butt projection, is that we know as "Brazilian Butt Lift" (BBL).

based on your photos, you look like a good candidate for a BBL. Liposuction of your abdomen, back and flanks should give you more curves and hourglass shape and fat transfer to buttocks should give you more projection. I would suggest you to consult a board-certified plastic surgeon because only after a thorough examination you will get more information and recommendations.

For sure gain some weight at least 10 pounds+++. The more fat to transfer the better the results in a "Skinny BBL". Expect fees in the $7,500 ranges.

Based on your pictures, you are an excellent candidate as is for a Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL). The optimal BBL outcomes are achieved with: 1) use of VASER liposuction to harvest the fat, 2) a closed looped system such as Puregraft to process the fat, and 3) strategic micro-packet transplant technique. These three processes have demonstrated over 95% fat graft take. This means that your results will be stable as long as you maintain your weight. Do you think you’re 20 pounds underweight?  it makes no sense to temporarily gain weight for fat transfer procedures. Unless you plan on maintaining the increased weight the results will look just like if you hadn’t gained weight in the first place.

I do not recommend anybody gain weight for the purpose of having fat transfer procedures. Instead patients who have a low BMI or may be a bit short on the ideal amount of fat for a fat transfer I simply recommend including more areas to be treated with Liposuction.  for most patients to go to area for harvesting fat is treating their torso.  if the entire torso is treated including the entire back and under arm areas almost all patients can get enough fat for a good quality BBL. If that still isn’t enough then I usually either go to arms or inner thighs.  by including more areas surgeons can get enough fat to do a nice job for most low BMI patients.

Thin patients typically also don’t need as much fat to have a big impact and the fat harvested tends to be very high quality on  low BMI patients.

When in doubt schedule more consultations.

Delivering consistent high-quality Liposuction and fat transfer results is more difficult than most people believe.

Choose the most experienced and talented provider in your community.

During each consultation ask each provider to show their entire collection of before and after pictures especially on low BMI patients or patients with similar body characteristics to your own.

An experienced provider should have no difficulty showing you a minimum of 50 sets of before and after pictures. Highly experienced surgeons will have hundreds or possibly thousands of BBL before and after pictures.

When reviewing results always make sure that the after pictures were taken at least three months for the date of the procedure. Any after pictures taken in the operating room or with patients who still have surgical markings represent early results which are not at all representative of final results.

In the end choose the surgeon you think will give you the best result. It’s important to discuss exactly what areas will be included with the Liposuction.

Gaining weight simply isn’t a good option in my opinion but there are other surgeons who feel differently.
