In 2015 I was scheduled to have bbl surgery in another state. Once I arrived, the surgeon realized I had raynauds and said I wasn’t a candidate because epinephrine constricts then blood and I had raynaud's. Has any surgeon done bbl with a patient who has raynaud's?

Answer: Epinephrine containing drugs It is true that epinephrine containing drugs are contraindicated and hand surgery for patients with this condition. When injected as part of numbing solution for liposuction different Afrin is absorbed slowly but systemic amounts I’ve definitely moderately high during and immediately after the procedure. FNF friend has cost patients with Renards to have finger necrosis requiring amputations in the past so your surgeon stayed on the safe side. We don’t have good literature on the incidence or correlation with Epinephrine used in Liposuction on patients with Raynaud’s but I would think that the degree of the patient’s symptoms would have a lot to do with the decision of doing the procedure or not. Likewise each surgeon will have their own view on this. Some patients have very mild forms of your condition while for others it can be debilitating and patients with severe symptoms who may have already had fingertip necrosis due to cold weather are probably wise to step away from procedures requiring high doses of epinephrin.
