In my opinion there is no need for ultrasound or laser assistance during liposuction. Negative pressure liposuction will not burn anything.
There should be little to no risk of being burned during liposuction. I have been in practice for 24 years and I have NEVER seen a patient burned from this procedure. I don't use ultrasonic liposuction, and this was once a problem with that approach, but I think the risk has improved. SlimLipo or Smartlipo involves the use of a laser to heat up and liquify the fat but there should be little risk to burning the skin with those approaches. If anything, the heat should help the skin contract more for better overall resuts.
Thank you for the question. You should never be burned during liposuction surgery. Please make sure you go to a board certified plastic surgeon who has experience with laser liposuction.
Thank you for your question. Correctly performed liposuction by a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon should never result in a burn to a patient. Your best prevention strategy would simply be select a well trained and experienced surgeon.
You should never be burned during surgery. There are only a few ways to be burned. These can be caused by lasers, ultrasound and electrocautery, as these are the most common heat sources during surgery. Surgeons know this, however, and the standard of care is to avoid opportunities for burns to occur. Since laser liposuction can cause burns at the site where the canula enters the skin, most surgeons use a silicone sleeve to protect the skin from the heated stylet.
There should be no burn with properly performed liposuction. There is a tiny risk of burns if you opt for lipo that includes laser or ultrasound energy. So you may wish to stick with standard lipo or power assisted lipo which I prefer and don't have to worry even about a small risk
Whereas very heavy patients are not the ideal candidate for liposuction the procedure can assist in the overall weight loss and body contour regimen.
Like many plastic surgeons I prescribe a compressive garment after liposuction. However, there's no evidence that these devices have any effect on the long-term outcome.
Your surgeon is right that branches of the greater auricular nerve were bruised by liposuctionIt is very unlikely the nerve is cut,The feeling will slowly return but it may take up to 18 months to finish recovery. You will probably notice abnormal feelings such as tingling as the nerve recovers....
