I'm thinking about getting a small chin implant, I'd like to improve my profile and chin definition without anyone noticing. I'm looking to have a simple procedure that can be done at the doctor's office. I have heard about fillers, but I'm looking for something more permanent.
Answer: Natural Chin Enhancement Thank you for your picture. In my opinion, you could benefit nicely from a sliding genioplasty. This is a procedure performed in the operating room with an incision hidden in you mouth. This would give you a nice, natural result. Best wishes.

Answer: Chin Implant Candidate Without an exam your question cannot be answered. However, your photos are helpful and you are probably a good candidate for a Chin Augmentation. You will need to see an Oral/Maxillofacial surgeon to see if othognathic surgery, genioplasty or using an implant is best for your specific case. It should be noted that patients with severely weak jaws or abnormally functioning jaws may be better treated with other facial surgery (orthognathic surgery), although a chin augmentation may be an option at a later time. These patients should seek the advice of a plastic surgeon to determine which course is right for them. Here is some information to help you make this decision:Candidates for Chin Augmentation -Patients whose chin profiles are weak but have normally functioning jaws are candidates for Chin Augmentation. Many of these candidates have used injectable fillers in the past to strengthen the protrusion of their chins, but are looking for a permanent solution. If you are one of these patients, then you are a likely candidate for chin augmentation.

Answer: Subtle and natural chin implant possible? Hello, and thank you for the question. In general, filler is a great way to make a subtle change for the chin. However, a more noticeable (but still subtle) outcome can be obtained with a surgical implant. An exam would be necessary to determine the best size and the optimal approach based on your individual needs. It is possible to make a very small change that would enhance the profile nicely. I would recommend a consult with a board certified and experienced facial plastic surgeon. He or she may use computer imaging software to morph a photo of you; this will give you an idea of how the final result of the procedure may appear. I hope this information helps, and I wish you the best of luck.

Answer: Chin implant You appear to be a good candidate for a chin augmentation with an implant. As long as the right size implant is used, it should produce a natural and subtle enhancement. This is a minimally invasive procedure that generally has very good results. Ask your surgeon to view before and after pictures of patients who have a similar profile that you do. Good luck.

Answer: Subtle and natural chin implant possible? In office surgery is a great option for you! Hello nekomon,Thanks for your question. In office chin implant placement is a common procedure. It can be performed using local anesthesia alone and uses a tiny incision under the chin or one inside the mouth. I prefer the chin incision as it is an easier procedure for the patient and the incision heals really well. Recovery is fairly quick and easy for most.Take a look at some results of in office chin implant procedure in my link below.Good luck,Dr. Shah
