Chin Implant, is this misaligned or Malposition? (photos)

Question

Hi there. I am a 34 y/o Male, athletic, no medical issues. 10 days post op after having a chin augment. I went with an Implantech Terino Square Style 1 size Large. I am aware that there is often much assymetrical swelling afterwards but this looks very off! The right wing appears too high, it is off centered, and too much inferior projection. And what is with the "notch" ?! Am I wrong? Surgeon tells me I am being too critical and not giving it a chance to settle. I simply disagree. Please help!!

Dear Styles Although I agree that you have chin/jaw asymmetry, there is too much swelling to truly assess for asymmetry and very often, in 6 weeks, when most of the swelling has subsided, you are unlikely to notice as much asymmetry. At that point you can determine if you have an unfavorable outcome, with chin implant and neck liposuction, there is significant settling up to weeks 6-7.

Thank you for your pictures.  In my opinion, the implant does appear to be out of position.  Having said that, it is advisable to allow for all of the swelling to subside to allow for the most accurate evaluation of your implant position to avoid any unnecessary procedures.  Best wishes.

We use Implantech chin implants, usually Extended Anatomical Chin or Anatomical Chin. I took a look at the implant you have, and the wings are long. You have 8mm added chin projection. As your swelling resolves, many shadows may become clear. Indications of malposition may include -  your implant is causing pain; you can feel one of the wings is either too high, or too low, or buckled. A well positioned implant may be difficult to differentiate from your native jaw bone. If there is minor asymmetry, but no discomfort, after chin implant surgery, microdroplet silicone injections may be considered to achieve a more symmetrical appearance.You look good in your photos, so sit tight for a couple of weeks, and feel free to post an update. I think you are being too critical. You still have swelling since you are only 10 days out from surgery.  You look good for early post op snd I dont see any major crooked areas
