I have VERY sensitive skin and my PS shaved my vaginal area like never before. I am 8 wks post op and ANYTHING touching hair there makes we want to scream/scratch. It looks normal and very good but is irritated to the 10th power. The PS can only apologize (go figure). I've tried Benadryl (creams and pills), hydro-cortisone, etc. but no relief. When using a cream hair remover (sensitive formula of VEET) I have relief for a day or 2. Once I have hair grow back and remain, the problem starts again.
Answer: Itching pubic area. I've had good luck with a prescription strength topical steroid cream to calm the itchiness. You will have to talk to your surgeon about a prescription and options. See what they're comfortable with prescribing. Good luck, Dr. ALDO

Answer: What can be done to relieve itching on the vaginal area from a TT? Thank you for sharing your question and congratulations on your tummy tuck procedure! As you have tried most of the topical and oral treatments for itching it appears that only the hair growth is responsible for your symptoms. Unfortunately you may need to grin and bear the itching until your hair reaches a length long enough to avoid the irritation. Hope this helps.

Answer: Painful, itchy escutcheon after tt Hi melloThis is a new one on me. I will go out on a limb here based on the fact that the area looks "normal", and many reasonable treatments have failed. To me, it sounds like injured nerves are regrowing, and now you are experiencing hypersensitivity. Again, this is a reasonable guess based only on info you provide. If I'm right, you will need to desensitize the area. This can be achieved by rapidly rubbing the area with a coarse material like denim or an open weave type of gauze. You must do this so that it recreates the irritation. Do this three times a day for about a minute at a time. If it is a nerve hypersensitivity, this should fade to normal over about 6 weeks.Another treatment would be to use a vibrator to the hypersensitive skin.Good luck.Sek

Answer: Hair growth after surgery Thank you for your question. Shaving of the area around the vagina proper is rather uncommon at the time of a tummy tuck. If you find that your itching is truly at the vagina, you may want to seek evaluation to definitively exclude an infection. If you are itchy from shaving along the mons pubis (the fatty pad that sits just below your bikini line) and there appears to be no infection, then it, unfortunately, sounds like you are caught in a vicious cycle. Hair growth occurs, which causes your discomfort, so you treat the hair growth to eliminate your symptoms, only to have the hair grow again and repeat the cycle. You may have to cope with your discomfort until the hair grows in enough that it is no longer bothersome. Best of luck to you.

Answer: Vaginal itching after tummy tuck Sorry to hear about your itching. The shaving is necessary to minimize the chance that hair will get into the wound and cause a cyst. Ideally, electric clippers are used and not a razor. As long as you are sure the itching is not caused by a yeast infection, then I would recommend you avoid applying chemicals such as VEET. You may want to try soothing topical treatments such as organic aloe, cocoa butter, or shea butter.
