No period in almost 1 year. Procedure scheduled for 5/31/2019. Should I be concerned? I haven’t had a cycle in over a year (I was on depo). I haven’t had my depo shot since 4/2018. It’s now 3/2019 and I still haven’t had a cycle. I’m scheduled for my BBL 5/31/2019. Should I be concerned if my cycle don’t start before the procedure? I went to the doctors and they ran test but everything came back negative/normal. My PC prescribed me medroxyproges-terone to take for 10 days. I’m on day 5 and still no cycle.
Answer: Preparing for BBL While I agree that we want every condition to be right before your BBL surgery, I would not worry too much about your cycle. This shouldn’t be a cause for cancelling or rescheduling the procedure. The risk of blood clot is very low for this procedure but make sure your surgeon knows you’re on a hormone. I do not believe anticoagulants would be necessary but it’s helpful to have all of the information.Best wishes,

Answer: Birth control and cosmetic surgery And these are two separate issues but there is some overlap. The only real issue for the plastic surgeon will be that some birth control methods can lead to patient's being at higher risk for developing blood clots. The fact that you have not started your period is most likely not going to be an issue. Discuss all of your medical history including medications and previous procedures with your plastic surgeon in advance of scheduling surgery. Best, Mats Hagstrom M.D.
