Will phentermine hurt my BBL results?

Question

Hi I had a BBL done six months ago and I have gained weight since surgery, I was wondering how will phentermine or saxenda injections hurt my results? Or is it safe to say I’m in the clear right now? I don’t want to loose my booty. Thanks

Thank you for your question! For my patients, I recommend they stop specific medications such as phentermine, at least 2 weeks prior to, and 3 weeks post surgery. At 6 weeks post op, there are no specific medication restrictions. However, when taking diet supplements, any significant weight gain or weight loss has the potential to alter your surgical results. Weight loss regardless of method will leave you with less body fat in all areas. This will include your buttocks. But it will also include the rest of your body. The best way I can describe this is you will always maintain your new proportions from your procedure which manipulated your natural fat distribution. Your buttocks will always be proportionately larger with your torso smaller than it was before your procedure. You can have a large or small version of this depending if you lose or gain weight. In other words this will not hurt your results but your buttocks and your body will become smaller with weight loss but you will always have a proportionately larger butt. Best, Mats Hagstrom M.D.
