I've had 4 children and with each one, had difficulty during breastfeeding. I was very prone to clogged ducts and mastitis. Is that any indication that my breasts might respond negatively to a BA or could be prone to infection after a breast surgery?
Answer: Does Mastitis in the past affect a future BA? If you have chronic mastitis, this would increase the risk of encapsulation, which would cause a firm breast or even an infection. However, if your mastitis has been treated and is not active, you should be OK. Submuscular placement of the implants would be important for you as well as antibiotics in the pocket of the implants during surgery as well as diligent no-touch anti-bacterial technique, such as changing to fresh gloves prior to touching the implants, nipple covers during surgery, repeating the antiseptic soap over the incision site before insetting the implants, etc. Thank you for your interesting question, and good luck.

Answer: Previous mastitis does not affect future breast augmentation. Mastitis particularly during pregnancy is fairly common. As long as the condition is quiet there is no contraindication to breast augmentation.

Answer: Mastitis and Breast Augmentation As long as there is no inflammation at the time of the breast augmentation, you should be fine. I agree with staying away from the nipple with the incision and infact the nipples should be covered (occluded) during the procedure. Best of luck.

Answer: Does Mastitis in the past affect a future BA? Thank you for sharing your question. Previous mastitis should not affect a future BA but you may wish to avoid a periareolar incision and go with a breast crease incision to avoid any irritation or inflammation in your areola. Hope this helps.
