Answer: Botox/Xeomin/Dysport--Results Take 1-2 weeks It can take up to 2 weeks for final results with Botox. Deeper wrinkles need a combination approach with Botox and lasers, microneedling/prp and fillers. I recommend getting a formal evaluation with a cosmetic dermatologist. Best, Dr. Emer

Answer: Botox I've never seen a patient that had zero response to Botox when injected properly in the proper dosage. Some patients require more units than others, but this dosing varies from one person to the next. Botox injections usually start to take effect 4-5 days after treatment, and will reach their maximum effect by around days 7-10 after injection. I always tell my patients that the lines will not disappear immediately, and in some cases, may never completely disappear if the lines are very deep initially. In almost all cases, the lines will soften over time as the skin remodels while it is no longer being repeatedly creased by dynamic muscle movement. I always recommend speaking to the doctor who performed your injections about any questions or concerns. Be sure to see an expert physician injector who specializes in facial aesthetic procedures. All the best,

Answer: Botox not working Thank you for your question. A number of factors could be involved. It may still be too early to see what the final results are, so above all, I would wait at least one week or 10 days for full results to be seen. If you're still not satisfied with your results, it could simply be that you need more product. Feel free to follow up with your injector.

Answer: Botox may not always work for a few reasons Botox may start to work at day 2 or 3 after the injection but its effect peaks its onset at two weeks. You may still see some improvement. At times though, the muscles may actually be treated well and are no longer able to contract but the overlying wrinkles don't go away. There may be reduction in wrinkles if the muscles remain immobile for several sessions of Botox because the wrinkles are often caused by many years of contraction so it's not reasonable to think they will go away overnight. There are times that the number of units of Botox injected are not enough for the bulk of the specific muscles in that individual patient and additional units may be injected if there is muscular activity still seen after two weeks. The placement of Botox may also affect its effect. If some of the Botox is injected unknowingly into blood vessels, the Botox won't treat the local muscle but will be carried away and could cause some systemic symptoms. When considering your first Botox treatment seek out a board certified dermatologist or plastic surgeon for your Botox evaluation and treatment.
