No matter what technique or dosage is used, Botox lasts about three to four months in most areas of the face, and six months in the masseters. Botox works by blocking signals to the muscles that stimulate them to move. The relaxed muscles no longer press your skin into furrows and wrinkles, and your skin smooths out. Please consult a board-certified dermatologist who is an expert at Botox to get a long-lasting, minimally invasive rejuvenation.
Perhaps the effects last about 4 months. Because the change is modest and few injectors do this service well, you might consider another approach to address your skin concerns. See a board certified dermatologist who has a cosmetic focus. There are many better options.
The mesobotox technique was described almost 2 decades ago in France and remains one of a common use of the botulinum toxin. There are many indications and different dilutions with dose per injection point from 1/2 - 1/8th of a unit. Duration also depends on the indication and varies from 3 to 12 months. Using this method allows to achieve a fine tuned results rather than a routine expectations. Many injector's criticize the use of mesobotox not because it's not effective but because the doses are rather minute. I suggest you read about the mesobotox than try to find an injector willing to do it. Good luck!
BOTOX® Cosmetic is an approved treatment to temporarily improve the appearance of both moderate to severe frown lines between the brows and crow’s feet lines in adults.BOTOX® Cosmetic targets one of the underlying causes of frown lines and crow’s feet—the repeated muscle contractions from frowning and squinting over the years. We inject these muscles with BOTOX® Cosmetic to temporarily reduce muscle activity. You will begin to notice a visible smoothing of your crow’s feet lines and frown lines between your brows between 4-7 days after treatment and the effect last about 3-6 months. Wrinkles result from a combination of many factors. It’s not just about cellular changes that can occur over time, reduction of collagen, or damage caused by free radicals in the sun and the environment. When you frown or concentrate, the muscles between your brows contract, causing your skin to furrow and fold. And when you squint, the muscles around your eyes contract and cause crow’s feet.I will recommend you to always visit a board certified physician.
Thank you for your question brad_86. I understand your concern. Botox is a purified protein used to address wrinkles associated with facial expression. When injected into the skin Botox will relax the muscles and smoothen out the overlying wrinkles. The most common areas of treatment are in the upper face. These include the horizontal lines seen on the upper forehead when one raises the brows, the vertical lines seen between the brows when one frowns (frown lines), and the crow's feet seen around the eyes when one smiles. One of the newer applications on Botox is intradermally, in the surface layers of the skin. This can be done using needles or devices such as Aqua Gold. It was noticed that when Botox is used to relax muscles in the upper face, the skin quality in the area improves. A glow is seen and pore size is reduced. It can even be used to treat acne. The pivotal studies used 20 units of Botox in the glabella area between the brow to address the frown lines. These studies demonstrated that the peak results are seen 14 days after the treatment and most people enjoy their results for 3-4 months. At that point, a maintenance treatment is recommended. While some people start to see results as early as the next day, it can take two weeks for full results so patience is important. There have been no studies on intradermal Botox treatments. However, by extrapolating the pivotal studies performed to treat wrinkles associated with facial expression, one can guess that patients will enjoy their results for three to four months. With any injection, there are risks such as pain, bleeding, bruising, redness, swelling, tenderness, and infection. We take special precautions to minimize these risks such as using a painless technique. We also treat bruises with a laser as early as the next day. Bruises usually resolve within two weeks if untreated. After a laser treatment bruises usually resolve in 1-3 days, but may still take two weeks for full resolution. In addition to these risks, with Botox there is also a risk that the product spreads or diffuses to nearby structures. Spread to nearby muscles can lead to side effects such as the temporary appearance of droopy eyelids or a temporary asymmetric smile. After a Botox treatment, I recommend that my patients avoid heat exposure, alcohol consumption, and strenuous exercise for 24 hours and not lie down flat for four hours. This is because all of these activities may possibly lead to the movement of the product and consequent side effects such as droopy eyelids. Although there have been no definitive studies shown that these actually occur and some physicians do not provide such aftercare instructions, in the absence of data I err on the side of caution and recommend that my patients avoid such activities. Please consult with a doctor for specific recommendations. Good luck!
Hi Brad, most neuromodulators will last around 3 months before wearing off. This includes Botox, Dysport and Xeomin. It works by inhibiting acetylcholine release at the motor neuron endplate, thus inhibiting the nerve to motor impulse. Cheers, Dr Eric Shreder
I typically ask patients to wait a period of 24 hour's before exercise and/or weight training.
Due to the forced relaxation of the muscles by the botox, Xeomin, or Dysport, some people experience temporary swelling in areas near injection sites. It normally goes away within a week as the product settles in. If it happens each time, changing the amounts of neurotoxin (botox, Xeomin, D...
Botox results last up to 3-4 months and can be softened with venus legacy and thermage treatments. I recommend getting a formal evaluation with a cosmetic dermatologist.
