I have lost over half my body weight. I am 5'2 and 121 lbs. I am scheduled for a tummy tuck-- muscle repair is a possibility, but doc wants to wait until we see exactly what I have under there. I am worried though that because of my upper loose skin that maybe I should have pursued the fluer de lis instead. Thoughts?

Answer: Should I have a Fleur De Lis Tummy Tuck? The short answer is yes. In order to get the best results possible, excision of skin in both the vertical and the horizontal vectors will be necessary to create the ideal results. Unfortunately this leaves a visible "up and down" scar above the beltline, however, in your case I think you would be much happier with the ultimate shaping of your body. Congrats on the weight loss and good luck.

Answer: Should I be getting a fleur de lis tummy tuck instead? Thank you for sharing your question and photographs and congratulations on your impressive weight loss. Massive weight loss patients - those having lost 100+ pounds - typically benefit from an FDL approach to a tummy tuck in order to remove the greatest amount of skin possible. It leads to the best skin tightening in both a vertical and horizontal component at the tradeoff of a vertical scar. Based on your picture I likely would recommend it over a traditional full or extended abdominoplasty. Hope this helps.
