Answer is yes. Chin implants come in different shapes and sizes. Selecting appropriate implant to correct given deformity is part of communication between patient and surgeon. In your case one can select implant that gives no increase in chin projection but increases the width and creates more square, masculine look. You should consult a board certified plastic surgeon with experience in facial implants and discuss your options. Good luck.
Chin implants are composed of Silastic in are manufactured in a large variety of sizes and shapes, and can be custom carved according to the patient's unique anatomy. A full set of photographs of the face are required since the chin/ mandible and the chin implants are both three-dimensional structures. The amount of width required to augment the chin is determined by the size and shape of the implant. The Mittleman pre-jowl implant is designed just for this specific use. I don't believe chin implant would add width without making the chin more pointy. Sliding genioplasty could do this by cutting the midline and widening it.
Hi, I have performed many chin augmentations using chin implants for over 30 years. While it is possible to wide the chin while adding projection (which is what a chin implant does), a profile view would help in determining if your chin is indeed weak. I have found placing a silastic chin implant through a small, curved incision under the chin to be very safe, quick and highly effective. Hope this helps.
Yes. There are implants that have lateral thickness and almost negligible anterior projection.
You can modify the shape of the chin with implant materials, and one does not need to choose 'a standard' implant from the manufacturer. One can add material 'only' to the 'sides' of the chin/jawline to achieve that look. In other words, you need not get more 'projection' in profile.
"A formal evaluation would be needed to determine what's best. Many of my patients try to avoid surgery, so we perform a non-surgical chin augmentation treatment with injectable fillers. Fillers like Radiesse, Voluma, BellaFill as well as Sculptra are injected into the area, improving the...
It looks like you have relatively mild facial asymmetry. This is considered within normal limits in adult population. Asymmetry is a result of asymmetric bone development in most cases.Correction can be achieved in different ways. The easiest way would be left face augmentation with fillers, in...
