The best materials for many facial implant are those that allow the to be easily inserted AND removed if revisional surgery is ever needed or desired. That materialk would be unequivocally be a solid silicone material.
In our practice we have been using Silastic chin implants for approximately 25 years with an excellent success rate. Chin implants are manufactured in a large variety of sizes and shapes, and can be custom carved when necessary to fit the patient's unique anatomy.
Hi, I have performed many chin augmentations with a chin implant for the past 30 years. I prefer using a silastic chin implant placed through a small, curved incision under the chin. I have found this approach and method of chin augmentation to be very safe, quick and highly effective. IMHO, jaw implants have too many side effects for me to use or recommend their placement for my patients. When performing mandibular angle or jaw line augmentation, I prefer using a dermal filler (Restylane Lyft) for its superior action and lack of unwanted side effects. Hope this helps.
The type of material depends on what the final goal will be and where the starting point is. Do you need an implant ,is an injection possible or is a procedure on the bone the best option?
Typically you can choose between Silastic (popular relatively inexpensive); a type of acrylic/ plastic (Porex is a common one); Gortex-like (most biocompatible more cost) and even Coral-like (hydroxyapatite). In the chin area, they all 'work' but they do yield different appearances due to their contours, ability to shape at surgery, Density and palpability. The choice 'should ' be based upon the best balance for your face including the present shape of the chin and the amount of muscle activity present.
You have a well proportionate and wonderful facial features such as cheek bones and jawlines . I do not recommend any facial surgery such as buccal fat removal base on your photos. Please make an appointment with an experienced facial plastic surgeon for further non inavasive procedures.
The resorption, if truly present, is only to a small degree and not progressive. The surgeons skill has more to do with proper size determination, precise placement, and avoidance of nerve injury. Good luck!
Being an option, chin implants have serious disadvantages, specially in the mid and long term, patients are rarely happy with them after 5-6 years, all are out by then or later.Consider the chin advancement by means of sliding genioplasty, the advantages are:-lifetime procedure, no more revision...
Every doctor has their own instructions for surgery. You should speak to your doctor and see what the instructions are for surgery.
There is some recession of your chin, so chin augmentation is a possibility for you. This augmentation could be accomplished with fillers or a surgically placed implant. Fillers typically are not permanent but the result from the implant would be. Normally, more projection can...
Far more important than the order of which to do first is the skill and experience of your plastic surgeon at both clinics. Choose your surgeon rather than the technique and let them explain why one technique may be better than another. It is recommended to do both procedures at the same...
