My breasts are drifting away from each other and I can see the rise of skin in the middle towards the bottom. Is this normal?

I recently had a BA with lift. I'm 8 days post and for the most part my breast have been close together naturally. I'm noticing that they are drifting apart & I can see the skin in the middle pulling/ stretching. When I push them together they are ok. I bought a danskin sport bra that hooked in the front as suggested by nurse but the plunge is so deep it's pulling them apart.For now i'm in a maternity bra with wireless support alternating sports bra.Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Hello, Thank you for your question.It is difficult to say without an assessment. You are still early into your recovery. It's common to have swelling and for your breasts to be sitting high and awkwardly. Should you be concerned, I'd recommend booking a follow-up with your Board Certified Plastic Surgeon for an assessment. Take care.

What you describe could be the result of swelling diminishing following your surgery. Or it could just be that the implants are filling the pocket made during surgery. With the type of procedure you described, some movement of the breast implants is expected.I would recommend you discuss your concerns with your surgeon and allow him to examine you to determine if this is expected or if there is a problem.Good luck!

Thank you for your question. Unfortunately without a full series of photographs or an in-person examination it is difficult to offer definite recommendations.  There is some natural movement of the breasts to the side and as you are recently out from surgery you may be demonstrating swelling between your breasts that is tenting the skin that overlies your breastbone,  worsening in appearance as your breasts drift away from each other.  Alternatively the pocket within which your breast implant was placed may have been created too far out to the side, allowing the implant to move outwards too much.  Because of the varied causes I would voice your concerns to your surgeon and see if they can evaluate you in person to either provide reassurance or offer suggestions.
