Is 12 too young to get a Veneer?

Question

My daughters lateral incisors are peg like and she would like to get them filled/bigger. She is 12, and I feel as if thats too young to get a veneer and too young to get a bonding? Shes self aware about them, is 12 too young?

Hello Sarah,I would recommend that your daughter have composite bonding done to fix the shape of her peg laterals.  A good cosmetic dentist will be able to improve your daughter's smile with bonding, and when she's older a more permanent fix such as veneers may be recommended.  Good luck and I hope this helps. She is at an age where all permanent teeth have erupted.  I would suggest to have her bite evaluated to see if she needs any changes in the alignment of her teeth.  If no changes to her bite are needed then she is not too young to get composite bonding done to fix the shape of her peg laterals.  Having her bite checked will help to assure long term success of the bonding.  As she gets older changes from growth may occur and may have to have adjustments made to the bonding.  Eventually, porcelain veneers will be more esthetic and the best long term solution.   Hope tha helps! At 12 years old I believe your daughter is starting to become more aware of esthetics. Smiles play a big role in childrens confidence. Your daughter is absolutely old enough to have bonding done on her laterals. This is a very conservative way to improve her smile until she is a little older and then veneers may be a better long term solution.

ideal age is once growth is complete, in females is 17+. u can go for veneers at this age but in future, due to grown , if any change in jaw , u have to go for re-treatment for best cosmetic result.
