I really suggest you start with braces. Your teeth would need to be aggressively prepared for veneers. After the braces if you feel you are still interested in veneers your outcome will be much better.

I considered it for the past 4 months, and understand the pros and cons associated with each, and the upkeep involved in both choices. I'm considering veneers or braces for a "Hollywood Smile". Would braces be a better idea, or would veneers be an option for me?

It is not uncommon for teeth that have had root canals to turn dark. This does not usually happen immediately.Your dentist can take steps to try to keep the grey line from happening by using a more opaque porcelain.

I fell and damaged my front teeth last month. After two weeks I had root canals on all four front teeth. I’m now waiting for my permenant all porcelain crowns to be made. I’ve asked my dentist whether I will get a grey line around the crowns and he says no but from reading online I am concerned the teeth that have had root canal will go black underneath and cause a grey line at the gums. I’m hoping because the root canals were done quite soon after this may have stopped them from discolouring as much?

It sounds as if the post has come out of the teeth . If this is the case it may be able to be recemented. There could also be additional problems but without an xray it's impossible to say. If you are concerned I suggest going to another dentist in your area.

now my back molar that has had root canals and crowns has broken off at the gum line and the post is sticking out of the crown that broke off! I go back tomorrow to the dentist that scares the hell out of me! He is to young,to over confident and extremely rough. the worst is he did a root canal and tried to finish and had me stay in the chair, un numb by this time; with tears running down my face for 3 hours!!

This is not a case for a 6 unit bridge. My first treatment plan would be and implant/crown in the extracted site, crown lengthening on the other front theeth and veneers. If an implant isn't possible crown lengthening the front teeth then veneers and a 3 unit bridge.

The tooth on the photo needs to be extracted, the doctor suggested a bridge. I also want to improve my whole smile ( 6 front teeth), get nice white straight longer teeth. most of them have already added bonding. The uneven gumline should have been addressed before the crowns were done.I suggest meeting with your dentist to discuss your options. These restorations are meant to last a long time so if you are unhappy I would bring it up.

I have just had 6 new crowns done on my front teeth. The gum line is uneven because the size of the teeth go from long to short in the one side and different in the other side. So the gum line looks uneven. I have never seen it done like this before. I have a big smile and it shows every time I smile

Congratulations on your hard work. I suggest getting an appointment with a dentist who is comfortable with complex restorative cases. This may mean doing some research online. I suggest searching for a dentist through the Kois Institute. They have a directory of dentists who have completed their program. They will understand how to treat someone like yourself.

I'm a 30 year old female who recently went into recovery for a 15 year battle with bulimia. Between the long time eating disorder and genetically weak teeth my mouth is a mess. Missing a tooth, broken teeth; a root canal front tooth.

That is not normal. Why did you wait a month to bring it to the attention of the office? Once you noticed there were no rubber bands you should have returned to the office. Check next time you leave before you get in the car and drive away.

About 3-4 months ago I was left without rubber bands on half of my teeth for an entire month. I could literally take out the wire with my tongue. What is the reason for this ?

It is important to get an appointment ASAP with your dentist. The crown may be able to be recemented, but it also may need to be remade. The longer you wait to go to the dentist the lower your chances become for reusing this crown.

I had A root canal done when I was around 10-11 &amp; he left a gap between the crown and my gum. Well 8 years later and that crown has fallen off. Should I be worried ? What should I do? It came off after eating some gummies. I caught it just in time and its still in tact .

The traditional school of thought is to remove the teeth and bone graft. allow this to heal for 3 months. Place the implants and allow them to heal for 3 months. finally place the abutments and do the bridge. Sometimes it can work out that teeth can be removed, bone grafted and implants placed the same day. The more teeth you are doing this on the greater the risk that the final outcome will have problems. going the traditional route and not rushing improves your chances for success.

I have 1 tooth on my lower left that fractured off at the gum, another tooth that has had a root canal and crown that is now coming loose, both me extracted. Also tooth which has been missing for a few years. The plan is to do the extractions, a bone graft and 2 implants to support a bridge. I’ve been reading that having implants the same day as an extraction isn’t a good idea if there’s a bone graft involved. Are my implants doomed to fail due to the extractions and bone graft on th same day?

Without a post it is doubtful the crown will stay in place. Cut your loses and have the implant placed. You will be much happier not having to deal with continually recementing a crown and the fee associated with that.

I had a botched root canal in a lower molar. The post placed in the tooth broke and the crown became loose. Current dentist cemented the crown back in place. She doesn't think the root canal can be redone, because the original dentist removed so much tooth structure. She thinks I may get another 5 years out of the tooth as is. I understand I'll eventually need an implant, but for now -- was cementing the crown on the best option to keep it in place? Is that enough to hold it, absent the post?

Options for repairing an old, botched root canal in lower first molar -- or is an implant the only answer?
