Will low platelets affect my chances for BBL surgery? Procedure scheduled for next month, concerned I won't be a candidate.

every plastic surgeon has his own preoperative protocol which he recommends to his patients. I would suggest you to discuss this with your plastic surgeon.

Sickle cell trait is not an obstacle to have a BBL. Platelet levels are important, yes, however I rely mainly on INR, if platelet is not too low. Hemoglobin level 13 is a common level. If blood levels fall after operation, blood transfusion may be needed.

It’s your surgeon‘s responsibility to determine if you’re a candidate for surgery or not. If you’ve not had a consultation then I suggest you schedule one as an in person consultation at which time you can get both an assessment in regards to your candidacy for the procedure and at the same time review your medical history and see if your surgeon thinks you’re a candidate and or if you need a work up before surgery and or medical clearance.
With your history there’s a high likelihood your surgeon will ask for a clearance from a hematologist.
It is up to each individual surgeon to make the decision based on their judgment and what they want to do. There is no yes or no answer to your question.
Contact your plastic surgeon. If you haven’t chosen one then start having consultations for the local board-certified plastic surgeons in your community. I do not recommend anybody travel long distances for elective surgical procedures especially outside of the United States.
People do not seem to appreciate the importance of having in person consultations well in advance of having surgery, the importance of follow up care and the number of people who have significant concerns after surgery, the number of people who end up being unhappy with outcomes and need revision work or that complications actually happen.
For all these reasons I recommend patients have in person consultations with local board-certified plastic surgeons when considering cosmetic surgery.
