I got a nose thread lift in March and my body rejected the threads. It wasn’t until July all the threads came out. I started looking into rhinoplasty and the different materials used (silicone, autologous rib, cadaver rib and diced rib cartilage) but I’m wondering since my body rejected PDO threads, if I should avoid rhinoplasty altogether. Context, I have a low bridge and droopy nose, I was looking into getting a higher bridge and upturned nose. Is the chance of rejection higher?

Answer: Rhinoplasty Hello and thank you for your question. Thread lift should never be performed in the nose. They do not have a good or lasting result and produce lots of scar tissue. You can still have a rhinoplasty after a failed thread lift. With good surgical technique, you could have an outstanding result. I recommend that you seek consultation with a qualified board-certified rhinoplasty surgeon who can evaluate you in person. Best wishes and good luck. Richard G. Answer: Considering Rhinoplasty After PDO Thread Rejection The rejection of PDO threads doesn’t necessarily mean your body will reject other materials used in rhinoplasty. Threads and grafts (autologous or synthetic) interact differently with the body. Autologous grafts, such as rib cartilage, are generally safer due to their compatibility. It’s essential to consult with an experienced surgeon who can evaluate your medical history, previous reactions, and goals to determine the safest and most effective approach for you.
