Hello, I am seeking a revision rhinoplasty in order to deproject my nose. I was also wondering if it is possible to shorten the infratip length by some kind of overlay technique. Thanks!

Hello, and thank you for your question. Nasal tip deprojection and refinement to the infratip area are absolutely feasible in the setting of revision rhinoplasty. The key is to perform an open rhinoplasty approach, fully evaluate your current anatomy, preserve as much of it as possible, and use thoughtful deprojection techniques like lateral crural steal in combination with tongue-in-groove, with or without medial crural modification (transection and overlap - what you alluded to - is one of a few select techniques that can be considered for this). The key is for you to be seen in person and evaluated by a qualified Plastic Surgeon that specializes in rhinoplasty and revision rhinoplasty, particularly with structural techniques including tip cartilage modification and structural cartilage grafting and support for proper tip control.

It is difficult to tell from the one photo, but it looks like your tip needs to be refined and possibly better projected. The infratip length can be shortened at the same time if necessary. The best plan would be to have a consult with a rhinoplasty expert that can do computer imaging at the same time.
