Should red marks 6 weeks after Juvederm lip injections be a cause for concern? (Photo)

Thank you for your question! I don't believe you need to be concerned as this appears to be a normal. However, I suggest following up with your injector if your results do not improve. 

The red spots are from some inflammation on the lips, if there is no pain or increase of the temperature in the area, it should not be a concern. It seems that you had a considerable amount of filler injected in the lips and the swelling and inflammation may take longer to subside.

Thank you for sharing your question and photograph.  Based on your pictures there does not appear to be any cause for concern as the red spots are either resolving bruising and vascularity or part of your natural lip anatomy.  Allow your results to mature longer and keep in close contact with your injector in case anything changes for the worse.

Thank you for your question. It appears that you have normal healing from your lip injections (especially because you stated that you had substantial swelling for two weeks). I would give it another week and then follow up with your injector to discuss your results. Best of luck, Dr. Heffernan

Your photo appears normal. Sometime the stretching of the lip skin can cause the color to vary slightly after filler. Nothing to worry about. Best of luck, Dr. M

If it is just the vascularity (redness), then I do not think it is anything more serious such as infection.  It is very unusual to have a reaction so far post injection.  I would certainly return to your surgeon for their opinion.Best of luck.Dr T

I know it has been 6 weeks but the lips still maybe healing. As long as the areas aren’t getting worse, you’re on the right track. Especially when you said it was extremely bruised and swelled. Also, the lips may be healing slower due to too much filler material in the lips blocking off blood supplies to those areas. Less blood vessels to the areas, slower the healing. Having 2 cc in the lips is really tough on the lips.
