Should red marks 6 weeks after Juvederm lip injections be a cause for concern? (Photo)

Six weeks ago I had 2 ccs of Juvederm injected in my lips. I had considerable bruising and swelling which lasted for two weeks. I am happy with the results but have been left with red splotches discoloration in some areas on my lips. Should this be cause for concern? I went to a board certified Plastic Surgeon.

We can try to dissolve any residual filler that may be causing that noticeable bulge. If that works, we can give it a week or 2 to relax and then start again with a softer under eye filler like Restylane.

If you are unhappy with the bumps, the filler should be dissolved. You can always have the area filled again if you like.

After getting fillers injected in the face it is normal to have some ligth swelling, but if the swelling occurs weeks or months after the injections, it may be from a biofilm in the area of the injection. You need an evaluation in person to check if you just have some chronic swelling from water...

If you have an abcess on your wisdom tooth, you need to wait until the infection is completely gone. Getting fillers at this time has a very high risk for complications, as the bacterias can spread trought the blood stream and tissues and you may get an infection where the filler will be injected

Dear scarlet_begonias88,Juvederm has significant swelling post injection. I would follow up with you plastic surgeon but typically I tell all my patients to wait a full two weeks.  Generally at 2 weeks they are happy and glad they didn't dissolve.  Dissolving is unpredictable as well.Daniel Ba...
