I have a flabby stomach,due to c sections and other surgerys and drs say I would have to remove the flab with surgerybecause its bad.Then I had my heart attacks would I be able to get the surgery now?

Great question. You will need a medical clearance to be a candidate for liposuction. A clearance which states that you are in good condition to undergo a cosmetic surgical procedure.

The answer to your question depends on what kind of stents you have. If you have drug-eluting stents you may need to stay on aspirin for the rest of your life. This would make liposuction unsafe. If you have bare metal stents then you may be able to come off aspirin for surgery. I would check with your cardiologist before seeing a plastic surgeon, and if you have had a heart attack within the last year it may be best to wait on any elective surgery. Best of luck to you!

minwin1I appreciate your concern, however you would most certainly need medical clearance from your cardiologist prior to undergoing elective liposuction surgery. Also, while liposuction will certainly decrease bulk and improve contour, Tummytuck may provide a more dramatic result because of your previous pregnancies. Consult with a board-certified plastic surgeon in your area to explore the best and safest option for you. Good luck.

The answer depends on whether or not your heart situation is stable and whether your body can safely go through the surgery.  I would recommend you first see a board-certified plastic surgeon to see if you're a good candidate, then have that surgeon work with your heart doctor to determine the safety of the proposed plan.No cosmetic surgery is worth jeopardizing your health.  I have done liposuction surgery and even larger procedures on patients with a heart history, but to make them safe, we always work closely with their cardiologist and design their procedure so that it passes the limitations that their cardiac status impose on us.

Many thanks for your question. The answer to this is that you would firstly need clearance from your Cardiologist that you are safe for the procedure you are possibly seeking. You would then need to be checked out by the Anesthetist to see that you are safe from their perspective to have any surgery done, and if they are happy, then what they are happy with the Plastic Surgeon doing.
As to your physical suitability for liposuction to your abdomen - your photos do not really help much and would need an in-person consultation in order to fully assess, discuss and advise.

Minwin,You would certainly need to get medical clearance from your cardiologist prior to even pricing out an abdominoplasty.  Any surgeon who would do your surgery without first contacting your cardiologist should be avoided.If cleared, then I would present your case to my board certified anesthesiologist for their input and requirements.  Best of luck with your search.Dr T

In all likelihood, no. You are probably on anti-coagulation given the stents.  Additionally, I cannot imagine a cardiologist clearing you for surgery.  Most certainly, you would not be a candidate for abdominoplasty, which is the more appropriate procedure, but is considerably longer and would pose even more risk.
