Question

I ended up with skin necrosis post leg lipo of left leg . Had skin graft 8 months ago . I’m dealing with a lot of tightness : cord like feeling under skin around ankles ( both ) and part on side of my legs . Don’t know if it will remain like this . Have compression I still wear that gives me relief ( wear it all day ) ; have been doing lymphatic massage and stretching

monicorps  So sorry you have had this serious complication after liposuction. It sounds like the tightness and cords that you are feeling is normal scar tissue present after significant injury and resulting treatment with skin grafts. It can take as long as one year for all scarring to soften and settle down. In the meantime I recommend self massage with moisturizers twice daily. Consult with a board-certified plastic surgeon in your area to confirm my advice. Good luck.

Your situation is complex and far beyond what is within the scope I've giving you an accurate assessment or recommendation. This is really not a good way for you to get information because of the limited information we have to go by.  I'm assuming there's a plastic surgeon who is following you or did the skin graft for you. He or she can help you through this process.  I would recommend waiting a year and a half from the time of the skin graft. There are scar release procedures such as Z-plasty that can help alleviate the tension of the linear scars. I'll plastic surgeons are trained in this procedure some may have more experience than others. If you're looking for a second opinion then consider seeking out the help of plastic surgeons who do a lot of reconstructive surgery or work and burn units.  Best, Mats Hagstrom MD
