6 months post op lipo, disappointed with results. Thoughts? Was this area treated? (photos)

Thank you for your question and photos. You had a fat reduction liposuction, which is performed most of the time. Your underlying anatomy was not respected or taken into consideration by your surgeon. Your surgeon achieved his/her goal, you look less fat. You have irregularities, lots of fat over the abdomen, anterior and lateral chest wall/rib cage and your back was not sculpted from what I can see from the 3/4 view photo.You will need body sculpting from a board certified plastic surgeon experienced in correcting poor results. This is not easy surgery and if you want to transform your body to what you were made to believe, this cannot be done under local anesthesia. You are scarred internally from the first procedure. If you were my patient, I would do VASER Hi Def Lipo 360 degrees and Renuvion J-Plasma for skin tightening. Would not consider a revision by your surgeon, even if it offered at no charge. Good luck.

Based on your images, it appears you may benefit from a liposuction revision with skin tightening or a tummy tuck procedure for a flatter appearance. I would have to examine you but it appears that this is a contour irregularity after liposuction.  This happens often when areas the undergo liposuction are not feathered appropriately.
The good news is that it can be fixed and I have done so with good results before. The revision can often be done under local as well.While there is always a chance for contour irregularities with liposuction, someone who takes their time and uses the appropriate sized cannulas should give you a superb result.I have all my patients wear compression garments and I use multiple sized cannulas to feather out the result.

journey58I am sorry you are displeased with your results. It appears from your photographs that revision of your abdominal and flank liposuction is a reasonable course of action, as all swelling should have subsided by now. Sometimes revision is needed because residual fat can remain. Often times it can be done under local anesthesia.I would voice your displeasure with your plastic surgeon.  I am sure your surgeon will agree, if not, get a second opinion from a board-certified plastic surgeon. Based on your pictures, you are a good candidate for liposuction revision, to improve your abdomen. In general, you need to be physically healthy and at a stable weight, have realistic expectations, be a non-smoker and your BMI needs to be 30 or less.
l recommend you to make an appointment with a board certified plastic surgeon to talk about your goals and anything you need to know.

Hi - It is very important that you are in communication with your plastic surgeon.  If your fat did not respond well to removal and your skin is thin this appearance can happen.  Sometimes revision with liposuction can improve things.  Other times it is the time to do an abdominoplasty to smooth things out.  The best thing is to discuss what your options are with your operating surgeon.

I’m sorry to hear that you are unsatisfied after liposuction, but I understand your concerns. Revision liposuction would be my First recommendation. I would go both prone and supine to adequately address the excess fat of the flanks, waist,and abdomen. Depending on your skin quality, you may also want to add a mini abdominoplasty at the same time or staged I would discuss your dissatisfaction with your original surgeon. If they are not understanding, then seek a second opinion. Liposuction is not a procedure that can be done with out care and thought in order to obtain good and safe results. Best of luck.

it looks like you most likely were a good candidate for liposuction but the procedure wasn't done in an ideal fashion.  That said, your options now are revision liposuction or except the results as they are.  It's much harder to deliver a proper good results on a revision case then a primary liposuction case.  People who are over treated do not do well with the revisions since the revision is based on taking out even more fat.  The good news is at least based on your pictures you were not over treated but the treatment was not done evenly.  Unfortunately liposuction turns out to be one of the easiest procedures to do but one that is very difficult to do well.  I say that for two reasons. Judging by my results early in my career and now after having done over 6000 procedures my results are drastically better than they used to be. Are used to get results like you are showing too.  Perhaps not quite like that but when I look at my early results they were not impressive. Secondly, when I see the number of people posting bad results on real self I realize how much mediocre work is being done.  Granted all the people with good results typically aren't posting on real self showing their pictures.  I'm sorry you have to go through this disappointment. I can't emphasize enough the importance of choosing the best plastic surgeons for these procedures.  I suppose that goes without saying. It's also true that it's not easy to find at his best.  You're so much self promotion and braggadocio in this field.  Best,  Mats Hagstrom MD
