Even though it is very old, steroids can still work to flatten the scar tissue. We prefer Kenalog to flatten raised scars. Thank you for sharing your question. The only way to get rid of the vertical scar would be through a tummy tuck procedure. One can not permanently get rid of scarring, one can only replace one scar for another. Hope this helps.
