"A formal evaluation would be needed to determine what's best. Many of my patients try to avoid surgery, so we perform a non-surgical chin augmentation treatment with injectable fillers. Fillers like Radiesse, Voluma, BellaFill as well as Sculptra are injected into the area, improving the overall appearance of the lower face and balancing the jaw and lip harmony. We use cannula injections to meticulously contour and project the chin, soften the chin along the jawline and improve the chin crease.Implants are still a great option once you are 100% positive that you are ready for a permanent enhancement. I suggest getting a consultation with an experienced cosmetic dermatologist and facial sculpting expert; our practice is located right here in Los Angeles. Best, Dr. Emer"
If you are not sure if you have a weak chin, then you might not be a good candidate for surgery. Keep in mind that no one needs plastic surgery! It is for one person: you and you alone. So surgery should only be undertaken if YOU want a stronger chin and jawline. If you find yourself unhappy when you look in the mirror and you think about wanting a chin augmentation daily, then you would be a good candidate for surgery. But if others are telling you that you have a weak chin and you are happy with how you look, please don’t have any operation. As a board certified plastic surgeon, I can make recommendations about what could be done to improve the aesthetics of your face, but it doesn’t mean you should have any procedures if your facial aesthetics do not bother you.
The perception of the chin is influenced by its own size, as well as the contours of the neck and mid-face. In your case there seems to be a combination of slight underdevelopment of the chin and slide volume excess under the chin. The latter can also be due to the fact that the mandible is somewhat narrow. It can be addressed together with or separately from an intervention on the chin. The best way to evaluate your preferred proportions is using 3D computer imaging and simulation software, that allows you to change both the chin and the neck contours. This will help you to decide whether adjustments in shape look better or whether you feel your original shape is preferable.
You have a few options to improve the projection and symmetry of your chin and profile. If you’re not sure you’re ready for surgery, but still want to improve and strengthen your chin, I’d suggest augmenting your chin with Sculptra and/or Voluma. If you like your new look, you can make it permanent with a chin implant. I hope that helps.
Yes, your chin is small for the profile of your face. You also have an underdeveloped jawline. Adding a chin implant first can provide projection of the chin and better balance of the nose, lips, chin complex. Afterwards, I would consider fillers at the angle of the jaw to better align the posterior jaw.
It's best to begin by consulting with a surgeon in-person to discuss your options. During your initial examination, your #chin will be evaluated along with the neck and jawline. A weak #chin implies a lack of chin support for the skin along the neck line. In younger individuals a chin implant alone is usually all that is needed to improve the appearance of the neck. Subsequently, it will also improve the overall #balance of the face and can create the illusion of a smaller nose. As a stand-alone procedure, chin augmentation can be performed in the office under local #anesthesia. For individuals with signs of #aging in the neck, a chin implant added to one of the recommended procedures above, will provide optimal results. If you are not a candidate at the time of your #consultation, your board certified plastic surgeon can recommend alternatives to address your concern. Consulting with a board-certified plastic surgeon who specializes in #neck lift procedures is important to ensure you are receiving the best advice, care, and surgical experience possible.
Based on your photo, a chin implant could definitely add more projection to your chin and give it a stronger look. It would also add more balance to your face, in general.
The photograph demonstrates a weak and recessive chin profile. Placement of a chin implant would give better facial balance and proportions. To augment the chin forward, a Silastic chin implant can be inserted through an incision under the chin, under local anesthesia. Chin implants are manufactured in a variety of sizes and shapes, which is determined at the time of the consultation and examination. Thanks for your question. Based on your lateral photo you do have deficient chin projection and you will benefit from a chin implant. Chin implant is a rather simple procedure that can be performed in the office local anesthesia and some sedation if needed. Look for a board certified plastic surgeon. Take care and good luck
Based on the photo aloone without an examination it does look like you would benefit from chin augmentationDr. Corbin
It would not be advised to have a BSSO and jaw angle implants at the same time. While it can technically be done, the rate of infection is much higher and it may negatively impact on the healing of the BSSO. Wait six months between the two ramus surgeries.
Without an exam your question cannot be answered. You will need to see an Oral/Maxillofacial surgeon to see if othognathic surgery, genioplasty or using an implant is best for your specific case. It should be noted that patients with severely weak jaws or abnormally functioning jaws may be b...
You have excess chin pad tissue that is not going to be improved by any form of chin augmentation. Based on your current horizontal chin position, further projection would not be beneficial. You need a chin pad debunking done from a submittal approach. This will decrease the excessive chin...
