Why does my chin have no projection after chin implant? (Photo)

Question

I had a chin implant (#2 size implant) and 10 days post op. My chin does not have projection and looks longer. My doctor says to give it time as I still have swelling. I trust my doctor but a bit concerned. Once all the swelling has gone down will my chin have more projection and look less long?

You will have more projection but I don't think you will have as much projection as you would desire.  Without an exam this is difficult to answer, but it is possible the implant did not have enough projection, it is not in the proper place or you would have benefited from a horizontal advancement genioplasty.  This could only be determined by a Plastic Surgeon.

Have you ever considered going through jaw surgery?  That might be the best option for you. It will give you projection, lower the facial height, and give you a better lip position.

Dear Nicole, I would speak with your surgeon regarding your concerns and make sure that the current implant is in the proper position. While you have some swelling even when this dissipates you will not have any further projection of the chin. You will need to discuss these issues with your surgeon. Best regards, Michael V. You do have a small chin.  You still do not have enough projection.  I would ask your doctor about it, but waiting for the swelling to go down will do nothing for the projection.  If you place your finger from your lips straight down, your chin should almost touch your finger.   Yours is well behind.  You most likely need a revision and a larger implant.

You do have swelling but projection will not increase after this resolves. There are several possible reasons for this result but discuss this and consider a revision with your surgeon.
