How Long After Gynecomastia Does it Take for Nipple Swelling to go Down and Return to Normal Size?

Bruising and #swelling are normal and usually increase slightly
after the removal of any tape or foam. The bruising will decrease over 3-4
weeks, but may last as long as 6 weeks. The majority of the swelling will be gone
within the first 3-4 weeks. However, it may take 6-9 weeks to disappear
completely. The compression garment helps reduce the swelling, and the longer
it is worn, the more quickly you will #heal.But if this causes concern, its best to ask questions of your surgeon or their nursing staff.

Generally 3 months is a reasonable amount of time for visible swelling to subside after gynecomastia surgery.  Sometimes longer.  Be sure to follow up as your doc may have some "tricks" to reduce localized edema (like dilute steroid injections).

Normal post operative swelling can last for 6 months or longer. You may need steroid injections and/or massage. Just be patient and you will probably look fine.

3- 6 months and in some patients even 1 year is the time it takes for the swelling to completely resolve.you will have to wait for atleast 3-4 months before judging the results.Schedule routine visits with your PS.  He will help you better

One of the most frequent posts on this forum is about swelling after surgery.  Most surgeries, including gynecomastia surgery, cause swelling and can take upwards of 6 months to fully resolve. At only three weeks after surgery, it would be normal to still have swelling at the surgical site.  Be patient and address your concerns with your plastic surgeon.Hope that helps,Dr. Dadvand

Your maximum swelling is in about 10 days after surgery.You're still in the very early phases of surgery.Nipples after gynecomastia liposuction tend to stay swollen longer than other parts of the body.Three to four months is a realistic timeframe to start judging the results.Best of luck,Mats Hagstrom, M.D.
